I don't need the latest one. An 865 is sufficient.

Sin, 22 Nov 2022physics don't stop smartphones from getting more power... moreSure progress won't stop that's needless to discuss. Just, the day phones equal current desktop/laptops, the latter will still be ahead for same reason, physics. That day you won't be happy again and say we need Snapdragon 8 gen 27, 480 GB RAM whatever. That would be endless chase.
Being a gamer, get gaming phone then. OEMs maybe could do more if it was profitable, not all people are gamers though. I'm not sure if you ever be happy... wait, you said it - no.

There are mini PC the size of smartphones with 64gb ram amount 2tb SSD & i9 CPU with gtx 1650
Not necessary the best pc but that's not the point am making this can be done at smartphone size
It's more due too lack of cooling and available parts
And manufacturers just not doing what is possible
It should be possible too have 24gb ram on smartphones & fast SSD storage
The Snapdragon 8 gen 2 & mediatek dimensity 9200
Support up too 24gb ram
Ufs storage gos up too 1tb so far I seen
And SSD storage & ufs storage be put in raid 0
Smartphones like the Lenovo legion y90 or the Nubia red magic 7s pro show what has already been done

(personally don't have PC and use it for all "PC" tasks) Asking for phone being equal to PC/laptop in performance is obviously unreal simply due to less space in phone thus smaller chip, battery, cooling. If a smartphone costs the price of a pc
It should be capable of doing all of the same tasks as a pc
Flagship smartphones really are expensive
So the job of portable pc comes too mind for it for them
Plus yeah definitely want too future proof you're gaming performance if you can
Paying a price premium for a smartphone is for multi tasking purposes And heavy power users

Anonymous, 22 Nov 2022Fan in a phone is bit inconvenient. And could you explain t... moreThe flagship Snapdragon or mediatek processors of today
Snapdragon 888
Snapdragon 888+
Snapdragon 8 gen 1
Snapdragon 8 gen 1+
Snapdragon 8 gen 2
Snapdragon gen 2+
Mediatek dimensity 9000
Mediatek dimensity 9000+
Mediatek dimensity 9200
Mediatek dimensity 9200+
All of there's have a lot in common similar performance
In gaming any of there's will struggle too hold 60fps in genshin impart
League of Legends makes smartphones very hot
And probably is why fans are needed
Mobile legends bang bang make smartphones hot
But gamer's might want 240fps so we got a long way too go even getting 120fps will be a real struggle
Due too lack performance
Android has a terrible ram management system
So app storage of apps can't sit in cold storage
So background ram usage can get massive from game library storage yes there's many different android games
Then there's web browser and a single browser tap can use up too a full 1gb ram
So you can only switch between 32 browser taps without needing to reload the page again from the start in theory
So huge amounts of ram are needed just too run smoothly lighting fast and instant responsiveness in the os Ul & browser alone
It's faster too load from ram then from storage so the more you can of open just in ram the better
Then there the possibility of multi tasking and using app clone and dual screen mode and screen overlays on top could be doing more then 1 task at a time
Then there's emulation and running emulators they might need a lot of ram
Or running multi virtual machine inside of Android
Possible using vmos pro android 7 emulator
With root switch and comparability with older android apps that need a huge amount lot of ram
Or running virtual machine of windows desktop for compatibility with windows games that definitely need a lot of ram and even more
There video editing software that people might use
This can make smartphones hot again
4k or 8k video recording same makes smartphones very hot also need crazy amount of storage space
There are many use case for 32gb ram amount
And reasons too want it for power users
I think the sweet spot for most people is 16gb ram
The high speed SSD boot drive for storage is probably the biggest most important improvement needed right now for smartphones
As the OS will run far smoother forever and loading times will be reduced for loading apps or games just everything will run just so much better
Ram & storage specs are more important than people realize and the benefits scale higher too amount than you think

As was already said here, the answer to question 'Do flagship chipsets still matter?' generally is obvious. No need to discuss or have poll about. So it's more about user's preferences in current state..

Less than 5 years ago people were seeing massive jumps in mobile processing power every generation with no end in sight. People were expecting phones to take over laptops and maybe even desktop computers...
And here we are, each new generation is less and less impressive, and people barely care for more performance. Just more efficiency, better price, and "good enough" midrange power. Nobody's really chasing high performance in phones these days.

Exynos 2200 looks like a mid range chip compared 8 gen 2
With 50% faster cpu 40% more efficient
60% faster gpu with 80-90% more efficiency
A very substantial upgrade twice the performance with half power no wonder Exynos 2300 was abandoned

I think chipset will still matter forever
Even when smartphones get too the most extreme monster specs ever of are dreems
Software developers will just bring even the greatest of hardware too it's knees in no time at all
Moose law means hardware gets more powerful ever year although lately at higher price
Sadly software developers are the problems and
Artificial obsolescence from unnecessary heavy software growing heavyer ever year leaving old hardware unable too cope anymore
The problem is unless regulations are made and put in place
With strict standards restrictions and limitations and how damanding software is allowed too be
Forcing all apps too be able too run on this tier of hardware
The future flagship chip will be needed forever for smoothness in performance

And could you explain to me, what exactly do you need such high even more boosted performance for? Same for 32GB of RAM. Things advance gradually, HW along with SW, network speed etc. I see no urge for having such specs anytime soon. Most people say they can't utilize all today's flagship chipset power anyway. For the kind of tasks you would, it's better to use PC not phone.

I can't even imagine Snapdragon 8 gen 2+ being good enough
The problem is even the flagship Snapdragon & mediatek processors only support up too 24gb ram maximum I think the 2tb SSD storage amount is possible although
So hopefully
Snapdragon 8 gen 3 or 4
Or whatever mediatek makes
Will support support 32gb ram
Hopefully we don't have too wait till the double digit numbers just too get there specs
How many years away are we ??

We still have a long way too go till smartphone will be powerful enough in performance
Snapdragon 8 gen 2+ or better
With built-in high speed fans
As far ram & storage
32gb ram & high speed 2tb SSD
Screen 1080p
240hz amoled
9000mah battery
Dual changing ports & dual changers
When smartphones reach this point
The level of performance will ideal
