Samsung promises to be even faster with updates next year

19 November 2022
The One UI 5 rollout was already faster than last year's, but speed should be improved further.

fastanddubious, 19 Nov 2022You do realize they have different business models 🙄But other Android OEMs have an even larger number of models to update compared to Samsung. I just changed back to Samsung early this year, bought an A73, and I still received my updates just a few days ago. It's something that I won't be able to experience if I buy any other similarly priced Android.

More promising than OnePlus with their "closer to stock Android" statement

Samsung has really nailed it with its update process. It can finally make android updates as great and fast as IOS updates.

Anders, 19 Nov 2022Samsung are absolutely crushing Google Pixels at their own ... moreSamsung has been putting a lot of efforts lately into android. It has paid off for them, they're getting or already are number one seller in this region. Not a Samsung fan, but their work towards mobile division has been significant. OnePlus could've been the next best Android brand, but they ruined all their popularity with bad decisions, overpricing, removing features, oppofication etc

Samsung need to first consolidate their handset lineups. Still there are too many handsets in their portfolio. Ultimately they have to be in Apple's line of thought, for updating all eligible handsets at the same time.

Anders, 19 Nov 2022Samsung are absolutely crushing Google Pixels at their own ... moreHow are they crushing Google and beating Pixels. For starters, Pixels don't compete on the flagship space and as a matter of fact is not available in many countries, barring a few. The pixels, even with their mediocre chipsets, provide strong performance, amazing cameras, Pixel only features and is a great add-on to the google ecosystem. The only company that ever matched Google in pushing updates was Essential, and unfortunately they shut shop.

With Samsung being Google's partner, manufacturing the SoC, display and memory modules, we are seeing Samsung improving their software support massively. Next up inline, would be seamless updates, which would help Samsung speed up launching updates even faster.

Even though its wishful thinking, I think what could really revolutionize the market would be a Pixel edition Samsung S series phone, which means some pixel features and updates get added. That would be an awesome combo to have.

It's unbelievable how Samsung turned the tables with software.

They had one of the worst UI with Touchwiz UI and then a wierd samsung experience UI and OneUI changes the game completely.

And now their updates are only 2 months later than pixel, instead of the 6-8 months it used to be.

They were able to greatly reduce stutter as well, there is still some micro stutter on my S20, which i hope they reduce with future models and versions.

Spanky, 19 Nov 2022This is good for competition. Perhaps chinese OEMs will fee... moreNah, the Chinese won't care. They already built their fan base that willingly upgrade on yearly basis. Besides, with their thin margins, they must sell new phones every 6 months to get revenues. The don't have the resources to update their gajillion handsets they released every year.

People who care about updates will buy Samsung. The rest will simply keep buying cheap Chinese phones.

s22 ultra is the best phone I have ever used.. Glad I upgraded from 12 pro max to this and not 14 pro.. I have always regretted my decision to upgrade to iphone from my trusted s10 plus. Sure iphone had better integration with my ipad pro and battery life is nicer, but everything else was worse.. s10 had better cameras.. had secure folder, fingerprint and most important for me.. native call recording support.. I had to pay for youtube in iphone.. in android it is free.. in telegram you can get free netflix and every other ott for free in android. I missed android.. iphone users will never know the love

They should promise less bloatware instead.! Max 25. But sadly they can't keep it under 70+.

We don't want faster updates... we need useful and meaningful updates... not just a number. Like IOS, simple and clean but only useful features. Samsung is adding gimmicks
