OZ's population is about 25m strong, s3 and iphone is just too popular that it makes wonder how many L920 users exist.

Going by your logic if I know 20 people in my company using Blackberry it means BB have huge corporate market??
I personally know a lot of people using WP8; and agree that it's not as high as iPhone (they have over 30% of market share), but you are wrong in your assumption of Lumia.

AnonD-31621, 08 Mar 2013naah, i'm from hospitality management but I have studied th... moreIts quite simple actually, the force of demand for a product/sevice determines/drives the force of supply. In other words production should stem from the high demand of a given product.
For example, I haven't set my eyes on anyone using a lumia 920 to date (except in mobile showrooms in the UK). Most of my opinion of the device has been entirely dependent of tech reviews and assessment. Although I'm currently in Africa i was in London and Manchester for 2 weeks less than a month ago and guess what? Not once did i see someone using the L920 (the iphone was every where). Not saying i went out looking for someone who had one but if it is indeed selling like Nokia would have us believe, then i should have spotted one. So for me the jury is still out on just how well sales wise the device is doing.

This would be a waste of efforts by Nokia and Apple. Even if they win, SAMSUNG still remains the UNDISPUTED leader of cell phone market. SAMSUNG is far ahead from both these companies.
Nokia and Apple want to compete!!!!!!!!!! compete in the field...

dmakun, 08 Mar 2013You're wrong pal, that's not how to run a successful store.... moreso are you saying that, if you want your store to be profitable, you must have high supply if the demands are high? yeah, of course that's true. but there are also problems where the manufacturer has a low supply of certain products inspite the high demands of it AND/OR they have a HIGH supply but low demands right? that's what I can remember about eco. :))
and that's what i'm pointing about Nokia (my own thinking), they don't know if L920 will be a hit so they produce a certain amount, and now I THINK they are just relying on the DEMANDS, if it's high, then they produce to fill those demands.
same as Samsung, high demands so definitely they have to supply it or else.
the thing is, about the comment earlier, to be a competitive store, you should bring the consumers a variety of products where they could choose, not only the specific products with high demands. to be a good businessman, you should learn how to take risks.

Still here?:)). This guys are making money like crazy while you people are fighting for or against companies that don't give a crap about you:)). What is clear is clear, samsung stole allot of ideas, and they did this since... EVER. This is their way of doing business. They were doing the same when Nokia ruled. Copy what others got and make a cheaper device. Only that, back then they werent so lucky as they were in this last 2 years. I bet that even they did not expect a such a big success. That is why their devices are all the same from the cheapest crap till the high end, all the same, no insiration no nothing. The success is big, the ideas are low... I wander why:-?. Now, you fanboys just stop dening. I don't like neither apple or samsung and right now i start to doubt Nokia if they continue with this nonsense (though, i have a feeling that this comes, in fact, from microsoft, a company that was always helping crapple to drag their a**es into new tech. Maybe cause microsoft always wanted an adersar so, not to take over as a monopol?!), but one thing is clear. Everybody was buying samsung cause had the looks of craplle and was cheaper. Even the os copied allot of ios that copied allot from blackbery and palm os. So, for me, they are all theves. That is why i don't understand why is Nokia even in this theves wars. Here i can see that Microsoft still dominates the market and they say who goes and who stands... What is to big, is to big, and must come down....

Regedit, 08 Mar 2013Should i be considered about the business strategies of MS ... morewhy make your life complicated? if you don't want a Nokia device then what's with the chuckling? should you be bothered? no, because as you have said, people make their own choices. and the demand i'm referring to is the "people" who made their choice. you clearly know nothing about marketing. if L920 is always out of stock, not my problem dude.

Anonymous, 08 Mar 2013Maintaining a competitive advantage in an industry by follo... moreOk, so samsung copies because they launch new services and devices right after Apple does. And as you spelled it out to us like we're 10 year olds who need the most elementary explanations to get your point, we say thank you teacher. And yes we (majority of the people on this planet) want a competitive tech industry because we want even better products than what is obtainable and we like what Samsung is doing to drive innovation. While Apple patent shapes and colour, samsung today is offering interactive software developments that is bordering magic.
I will refuse to sympathize with the "righteous" nonsensical practices of Apple and their false claim to innovation and side with Samsung who today are on the side of free innovation. LG has been copying Samsung devices for many years and perhaps vice versa and even though they've had their little legal squabbles they've coexisted to the benefit of the consumer (i.e. you and me). So I'm all for the free market.

AnonD-31621, 08 Mar 2013and do you know what blew off the sales of WP7.5 Lumias? it... moreShould i be considered about the business strategies of MS or Nokia as a buyer? NO. should i pathetically wait that Win8 would be the saviour of the smartphones? NO..
why should i be bothered with the issues of nokia or MS when i am able to get a better offering from the competition
Every o/s has its strenghts and limitations. please not i am not saying strenghts and Weakness, intead i chose to say limitations. but in case of WP i see more limitations in comparision to competition. now the limitations could be technical, UI, marketing..etc aspects. save for europe, china and USA, win os has not penetrated to other parts of the world, neither did nokia with their devices.
a smartphone which is limited in its availability, the os is limited with its features is bound to have low sales, and more importantly its not the people's choice
