Tecno unveils Eagle Eye Lens - the first dual prism tele camera that automatically tracks objects

22 November 2022
Each prism is responsible for movement on one axis. Combined they can tilt +/-16° on one axis and +/-20° on the other. This system also handles OIS.

Tecno is welcome to try it, a well stabilized potato quality could still be better than a blurry flower.

That's also the reason Oppo haven't have any new smartphone with periscope lens after Find X2 Pro and Reno 10x Zoom. They depended on Corephotonics technology befofe for the periscope zoom technology.

Big camera lenses have a software stabilization mode for stills, linear tracking, and arbitrary tracking. It's very simple and works well. Automatic tracking isn't new but it's prone to glitching, especially for objects that turn.

Ehm, Sony had object tracking lenses for decades. So another fake article.

Tecno gotta start bringing out their stuff like this eagle eye cam to other OEMs, they're pretty interesting

you have to suffer, 22 Nov 2022sounds like a periscope with gimbal OIS..More like a beefed up version of gimbal

The sample pics are bad. They used a sensor which wasn't quick enough to capture the moment. Plus it's probably had a much darker lens due to the dual prism, so that made it worse.

Hopefully those issues are ironed out before this makes it into smartphones.

Btw Corephotronnics hasn't shown anything since it's original periscope camera tech. Surely that must have improved in many ways, since then.

Actually, there already was a phone with dual prism setup - the first ever phone with telephoto camera, the Asus Zenfone Zoom, released in 2015. It even had OIS.
Object tracking through hardware means a sort of gimbal, and that's really nothing new either.

Why use such complex setup, just have a high resolution and very Wide Angle lens and the software just punches in and zooms in digitally and makes it look like its manually and optically tracking the object, it's what Apple does.
