I've got SD cards from other phones and I've never filled any of those cards to Max capacity! But guess what I can load all those cards on 512G of on board storage! That would be playlist that I could drive from Key West to Oakland California without hearing the same song twice! Or enough movies to fly from LAX to Heathrow! Who needs SD, CF or any other memory format?

But any marketing is marketing and it helps promoting sales.
Easy reason why Australian government this summer fined Samsung with 4 millions of fine for missleading waterproofing ads.
Since no phone is submarine which could and should stay underwater indifinetely water resistance or IPXX rating should not be taken seriosly.
It have some point but wont guarantee you anything.
On any bad luck, fate, doom, occason etc even a single drop can make your device die.
Since all companies knows it and noone is willing to take this risk they never plan to put water resistance withing your ussual 2 years of warranty and thus once your phone gets water damaged you have to pay very expensive repairs.

My phone now have 32GB and i have 8GB sd card in it from like previous phone or two ago. I rather have 3.5mm jack on phone. It's a lot easier to connect on things that dont have wifi or bt. Like portable speakers that are like in tennisball size. There are a lot of people who for example have some good audio system built in home that dont have the BT function on them but have the 3.5mm jack.
I dont even look flagship phones as 3.5mm jack is what i need and there still is not enough wired in-ear headphones that have type-c connection on it.

Same is happening with the sdcard slot.

They only stopped doing this as the years went by and almost all removable batteries were gone. A lot have no idea that repairs sometimes will never ever restore their phones' ip rating.
And in case someone yells sealed battery is for waterproofing, Samsung Xcover Pro 2020 and 2022 says hi.

To those out there,ip68 rating is only a "privilege" that you can be sure that a few raindrops or if you are caught in a rain, you are assured that after drying up the moisture,your phone is good to go.Whoever swims in the sea or in a swimming pool is a Dumbwit. The chemicals in these water would damage the rubber sealing that protect your phone ,having an ip rating doesn't mean you can do those stupid thing,and there is no reason for companies to include water damage as part of the warranty repair, it's rules and regulations are just the same as a car, do you drive your car into the sea and expect your manufacturer to repair it foc?!

i guess xfans will accept ip certification whol... moreAs long as OEMs still refusing to back up the certified IP ratings with warranty, it will remain "a good to have, but not necessary" feature. And IP ratings can and do fail even on new phones.
Furthermore, Xiaomi flagship phones have some form of water resistance since Mi 9. This was not mentioned in the spec list, because, as stated in this article, it is expensive to get official IP certification.

As long as no company and brand willing to include water damage into a warranty any IPXX rating is nothing just a costly gimmick not worth to have.
Any phone even a low grade redmi 9A or 7A can withstand few rain drops and for anything else a real waterproof case for exammple one bought from alliexpress for 2 euros does a lot better job and more tircks than useless gimmick called IP resistance which does not protect phone when swimming, against sea water etc.
Paying extra cost for a phone with useless IPXX resistance is stupid.
Rather will trust the waterproof case than an IPXX resistance which does not works properly.

they have been claiming ip certification as gimmick and useless for the pass years...
but, uh, price increase!
and when they start removing bloats and ads?
