                I vote for
                "user" = "owner"
                "required skills" = "no tools required"
                In terms of security: what do i know what the service is swapping in i am now dependent on? Can be anything from a fake product (most likely) to "bug".
                It's up to the company to make the product save, not the customer.
                So i think this is a brilliant move to cut away at least a bit of the BS that slipped into the DNA of modern smartphones over the years.
                It's long overdue...

                    Yeah I don’t want the thieves to turn off my phone that easily, and clearly the EU doesn’t remember battery swapping for fake batteries in removable phones. Tech has now advanced to a point where people will swap batteries for batteries with a tracker/malware/spyware. People could make a wifi cracker server sit inside a battery now. Imagine getting hacked by a battery lul.

                          They already are "user-replaceable," who is the user and what is the required skillset is the real question.

                              BUT if other big countries joined EU's idea (India,China,USA,Brasil), we might have a fighting chance against this anti-consumer practice.

If you really say that, why would Samsung go through all the trouble of continue making new XCover models? They could have just discontinued the whole thing altogether. Also, why would Sony even bother to put the headphone jack back with the 2020 Xperia 1 ii when they did remove the headphone jack before on their 2018 XZ2 series, 2018 XZ3, 2019 1, and 2019 5? They could have just continued doing it for the 1 ii but alas, they didn't. Even ASUS puts the headphone jack back on the ROG Phone 5 after they removed it from the ROG Phone 3.

TAPES FFS! Do you see people using VHS tapes for movies today? No? Then you have absolutely no right to say that both 3.5mm jack and microSD card are outdated and obsolete. If anything, they are always getting more demand.
