Xiaomi themselves doesn't want to pay the several carriers in the U.$. just to enter that mobile market and a certain 0range's policies are still in effect in the D0D cause current guy did not bother to abolish it. 0neplus, Huawei and the others came in that market because such policies wasn't in place. It's too late for Xiaomi to even enter because of this new protectionism p0licies.

I was waiting for Note series.. specially for 12 pro+. Well, it's disappointing.
- Aggressively Overpriced.
- Even old 870 or 8100 processors could be used in pro plus model.
- Sidemounted fingerprint even in a pro plus model with 32k price tag and even in 2023!
- Phones come with Android 12, not the latest Android 13. So in reality note series will get only single major update.. Android 14. Xiaomi is not the only brand with this new scam.

People rarely buy unlocked phones.
I have NFL network, often there is AT&T ads during the shows. They even advertised up to $1000 discount of iphones.
Even if person does not get discount, there is monthly payment of $30-40.
Nobody needs to take $900, $1000, $1200 out of pocket.
Nobody is gonna buy crapmi note in USA when they get have expensive phones so easily.
But this is not cheap for the OEM. Many are not willing to give up on money just to spread their phones.

Note 12 vanilla have great price, and is a big upgrade compared to note 11 ( much faster soc, 128gb starting variant, 120hz screen, real proximity sensor. In camera it lost 2 of them, and front facing one is also downgraded, but main one got 60fps video recording. Also lost micro sd and nfc.) If is android 13 out of the box then its a great choice, but with and 12 when is 13 available more than a half year, then its a big no, mostly cause Xiaomi become slowest and most unstable in software department.

Now a days from past 1 year quality of Xiaomi phones have reduced gradually and no service center dose proper repair . i Have k50i within 3 months started facing issue with battery drains, always shown wrong % of battery left. Took 3 times to service center, every time it works for 1 day and same repeats again.

while in my country some people abused their phone rooting etc untill hardbrick so they can claim warranty and get new phone

Pro 8/256 is $340 while Pro+ 12/256 is $350.
