Eh, 07 Jan 2023Also wish the bigger USB-A had a USB-C design so it can be ... moreThere was short time usb a you could plug both ways but looks like it was unreliable so it didn't get popular

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2023Just a Lightning-shaped USB. But we already moved to USB C ... moreThey didn't move from usb a to usb c
They moved from micro usb because many ppl were inserting it wrong way round damaging devices and even cables. So usb association took inspiration from apple but instead of female port they made male port usb-c and cables are female connectors ..

Anybody transferring via usb 2 when their phone and the other device support wifi 6 is also dumb

I want usb 3 not mainly for the speed but for the display out support, but the speed is a nice to have since I do have a type-c SSD that's bottleneck by the dumb usb 2 port

Akashi Seijuro, 08 Jan 2023I simply don't understand how people break USB-C ports... moreAny connector or port with lot of pins or connector is prone to break. USB c is not like a power plug or a headphone/RCA plug. Also it's not like a magnetic port where it automatically aligns and clicks in when brought near each other.
Someone has to plug it in manually and that someone is a mere human. I am surprised people are unaware that these ports break.

Akashi Seijuro, 08 Jan 2023I simply don't understand how people break USB-C ports... moreNowadays, phones are no longer built with high quality materials as they were used to. Cheap materials are used to sell a phone at cheaper price.

How safe from the poi t of Atm cards and mobile data. Suppose the plug is kept to the pin and can somebody charge his mobile and copy the details if he is a technologist what about the safety of generalists need to be considered threadbare.

Akashi Seijuro, 08 Jan 2023I simply don't understand how people break USB-C ports... moreThe TypeC port has the pins exposed on an "island", floating in the middle of the empty space. This makes it fragile, like the microUSB port. On the cable side, the TypeC is pretty sturdy but not impervious. If there were an impact, the TypeC cable may survive, but the Port is likely to suffer from the impact.

This is in contrast to the Apple Lightning connector, which has the pins around the edges, and has no middle island section that can be damaged. The cable side is pretty sturdy too. However, if there were to be an impact, most of the damage would happen to the Lightning Cable and not the Lightning Port.

It is much easier (and cheaper) to replace a cable, than a port. So Apple got it right, where USB go it wrong. But they both got it wrong for having the base-standard at USB 2.0 protocol with slow charging speeds. Apple merely stayed at that obsolete point, whilst USB-C slowly evolved over the years, whilst making a mess of itself. The USB consortium had the opportunity to fix things a year ago with the new standard, but they gone done goofed that up with the idiotic USB-4 protocol. They could have wiped the slate clean, and make things standard, but they are.... idiots.

I simply don't understand how people break USB-C ports so easily, like wth do you guys do with those ports for them to break just by plugging the cable in and out of it? I've had both USB-C and Lightning port devices for at least 5 years now and I am yet to have any problem with either of those ports.
It's mostly the cables themselves that are quite fragile, and based on my experience, the Lightning cables are much more prone to breaking than USB-C.

There are chinese phones with usb c3.1 port but shipped with cable compatible with 2.0 speeds.

Captain Xiaomi (a.k.a Cpt Power) gets mad when someone says xiaomi is still selling phones with micro usb.

Maybe type c is another thing he considers gimmick to justify xiaomi costs cuts.
