Very well articulated. Thank you

Worst part about USB-C is that they're USB 2.0 spec.
This was completely obsolete upon release, they should've gone with USB 3.2 or at the very least USB 3.0 specification. It's chaos. It's difficult for consumers to know what their device supports, if it's the 2.0 minimum or something higher. And that's just the port side, the same applies to the cables. It also applies to the charging factor, where initially it was rated for 10W but they could have set a much more tepid 50W rating. Also it has no TV/AV out protocol to support on its own.

The good thing about USB-C is that despite all the downsides, it has been upgraded.
It now has DisplayPort 1.4 alt-mode. It also has PowerDelivery which scales upto 100W and beyond. And the data bandwidth is very high on a certified ThunderBolt 4 connection. You can't say the same thing about Apple's Lightning connector.

Coming back, the bad part is that last part is pretty rare. I'm talking 1% of the market. Around 10% are of a decent quality like USB 3.0, at least 50W charging, and some extra features. At least 90% of cables, ports, software when it comes to TypeC is based on USB 2.0, under 30W charging, and no TV-Out. Basically, there's a sea of low-quality cables, and low-standard ports and devices that are devoid of the necessary software for extra features (OTB, Host, TV out, etc etc).

Jason, 08 Jan 2023I like the lightening cable the most. It's easier putt... moreIt makes no difference. Lightning being thinner makes it harder to plug in, on top of being more fragile and being slower than USB-C

Narazumono, 07 Jan 2023Reminder that Scamsung was the last Android brand to adapt ... moreMan since USB C des not come from Apple they cant profit on that.
With lightning they could lie to their customers only a genuine cable and charger will works for their phone.
With USB C they cant do nothing just be quiet.
But as we know apple they find a way to put aple sticker on a USB-C charger and cable at ask 100 bucks for it.

Daemon Targaryen, 07 Jan 2023The thing is, Apple was one of the first to push for USB-C.... moreMan since wireless charging measns more danger to battery compared to wired one its not so great.
In case of wires power is going same way into the battery and phone trought many protocols and saveguard ads and patens which can keep your battery in cold enough state t not harm it even at 120 or 240W charging speeds.
In case of wireless charging your battery litterary sucks power from its whole body which makes it overheats way more.
Wireless charging is not that great and maybe it will be when it wont overheats so much but this needs tons of research and other tries to step into right direction.

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2023the best connector for charger is lightning port, no doubt ... moreMan those inferior breakable paper thin cables??? Are you serious or making clowns???
              You clearly have no idea.
Sice 5V/1A is like a dark age speed you cant be serious.

60W and 240W would like to see Samsung, Apple, Sony and Google using this type on a charging their devices especialy 240W.
A flagship grade phone with inferior 5V/1A in case of Apple or 18W dishguised by Samsung as 45W charger is not a flagship grade phone. Since Note 7 by Samsung big company like them is afraid to put more and company like Apple were worrying to switch from inferior lightning to USB-C. I bet they will sell their own branded USB-C cables and wall bricks for inferior price 25 per cable and 25 per brick even the real manufacturing price hre at frxconn will be maybe 1-2 euros.

Since time is money faster is better and phone which charges much faster in this way is for me far more superior than having all less and more popular so called flagship grade specs.
Even a realme lab confirmed a battery can replenish dead cells and went from 800 to 1600 charging cycles many other sites including GSM Arena confirmed faster is better and have litterary same impact on battery than crawling 5V/1A speeds.
Lastly since most phones people got on contracts by their carrier for like 2 years they will get a new device every 2-3 years and since batteries can easily last 2-3 years in a perfect condition like 85-90% the faster charger is always a win win over the slow one.
And in case of file transfering USB 2.0 is good enough becaue few photos will be transfered at the samwe or simmilar time like on USB 4.0 or better.
And for large files ym question is how many times a year you transfer large data ammount via cable?

Dragos, 08 Jan 2023I have Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. The cable is red insid... moreThat's the problem, there is "no label".

USBIF should make an app for smartphones/pc so that it will show all the details of a usb cable if you plug them in the device.
Also they should not cause harm if a user plugs 240W charger in their phone which supports like 30W or so.

                      > The base USB standard has pretty low power limits (500mAh for USB 2.0)
Since we are talking about dedicated charger, this is incorrect.

The USB Battery Charging Specification 1.1 allows 1.5A (7.5W) current draw when connected to a Dedicated Charging Port (DCP)

                      > although most manufacturer’s don’t follow the standard to the letter so 10W adapters are pretty common.
Fun fact, as I see people mentioning 10W (5V 2A) adapters, most devices I know at isn't some kind of weird non-standard heater/fan thing only draw the max 1.5A allowed by DCP plus a little extra depending on the cable length and resistance, almost never fully utilizing the full 2A.

Apple's stubbornness to accept USB C has more to do with greed and pride rather than technological hurdles. They are innovators (at least they like to think that) and accepting anything other than their own innovation is a step backward (even if their cables still deliver USB 2 speeds)

Apparently since USB 3.0 is not created by Apple, anyone using USB 3.0 are Neanderthals

The cable is red inside, and charger have 67W.
What the cable is red? And what data transfer have (10, 20, 60GB)?

USB-C, the Windows 10 of ports

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2023Yes, that's the only issue I have with USB c. I found ... moreReplace the port then. I hope you didn't buy an android for nothing.

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2023Wrong. Rugged phones have many ports, still most are IP69 ... moreMy phone's IP68 and has a headphone jack and expandable storage. I'll stick with that thank you very much. Don't need my cable coming unplugged in the night because I got up to go to the bathroom and brushed it. Magnetic cables for phones are DUMB. Wireless charging, DUMB. When you have phones that can charge wired at 240 watts why would you ever use wireless charging? If you don't have 9 minutes I think you have other problems to figure out.

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2023I got rid of micro usb. Only type c is perfect. And bought ... moreYep, I refuse to buy any product not using USB C, aside from laptops obviously.

Eh, 07 Jan 2023Also wish the bigger USB-A had a USB-C design so it can be ... moreOr just have those usb-a be replaced by usb-c 🤷‍♂️
