I like the lightening cable the most. It's easier putting in a male end for a usb cable than a female end.

I got rid of micro usb. Only type c is perfect. And bought only earbuds with Bluetooth 5 or newer. No any older earbuds. Everything runs ultra greatly. But I don't like the idea of removing the ordinary usb ports from laptops. But removing headphone jack and micro sd card slot from phones isn't a big deal for me.

Dometalican, 07 Jan 2023Honestly, 'Type M' should be the next standard. M... moreWrong. Rugged phones have many ports, still most are IP69 rated.
          While iphone 7 was IP67.

Narazumono, 07 Jan 2023Reminder that Scamsung was the last Android brand to adapt ... moreGalaxy Atomic 7 had type c.

Honestly, 'Type M' should be the next standard. Magnetic ports and cables would be ultra sturdy and add more to the water resistance we have in phones today.

The only issue is how to get fast data transfers on it. Shame Xiaomi gave up on that project after the Black Shark 3 series.

Xiaomi hates so much 3.X. Even some midranges from other have used it.
Even iphone 15 pro is gonna have usb C 4.0.

Also wish the bigger USB-A had a USB-C design so it can be inserted any way, that way there would be two sized cables for different tasks, but with the same design.

I'd prefer the lightning port / connector design but with all USB-C specs and features.

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2023the best connector for charger is lightning port, no doubt ... moreYes, that's the only issue I have with USB c. I found that MicroUsb is more durable than type C. All of my micro USB devices are still working fine, while I have 2 phones which don't charge properly due to type C port issue.
I think the non symmetrical pin is the major contributor, because the outer layer protects the inner layer from damage.
I hope if they come up with USB D, then it has a asymmetrical port design.

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2023the best connector for charger is lightning port, no doubt ... moreNever had problems with USB C. I had trouble with microusb, cables broke easily, no matter if it was original from the manufacturer or aftermarket

I remember that my first device with USB Type C was the Nexus 6P

Berserker, 07 Jan 2023Lighting is more sturdier Usb c is move versatile. Some... moreJust a Lightning-shaped USB. But we already moved to USB C so there is no way to change it. Creating something like USB D "just" for durability wouldn't see much acceptance I think, after the move from USB A to USB C was so bumpy even with the big advantages of USB C (much smaller, reversible, capabilities of many other ports like HDMI DisplayPort etc.). Even I haven't really moved to USB C much, only thing that is is my charging brick and that is just to enable fast charging.

But as article says, mist of its capabilities are optional.
You try finding and buying a Programmable Power Supply phone charger, with my quick look, they don't exist yet.
I live on a canal narrow boat, usb-pd sounds perfect for nearly all of the wiring it will need, no high voltage/amperage needed, for domestic use, everything is low voltage, but it's impossible, half of what I'd need is un-available and what you can buy costs an arm and a leg.
So it's a cheap, simple ring circuit system for 5/12/24v and 8 amp max.
Only need 250watts at 240 volt for small laundry washing machine, easily provided through a £10 inverter, otherwise 240v only used for laptop chargers etc
Wireing for boat itself, like solar panels, power Bank, generator, engine room etc etc being done by a good pro electrician who specialises in boats..

the one connector they just couldnt get right....

all hail usb c! long live usb c!

Reminder that Scamsung was the last Android brand to adapt usb which took until 2017
And now we're still waiting for scamphone aka iPhone to adapt it as well
Instead of a simple solution Apple wanted to be different to feel special so they adapted a port that nobody and nothing else uses

The thing is, Apple was one of the first to push for USB-C. They put it on their MacBooks in 2015 and eventually on their iPads. It's their iPhones being the biggest holdout which looks to finally change this September thanks to EU.

I personally don't care anymore if iPhone 15 finally gets USB-C. I have one of those octopus cables I got for $10 from eBay. It's from Baseus. It has two for USB-C, one for Lightning, and one for micro-USB to charge my PS Vita, DualShock 4, and older Android phones pre-2016.

Thinking of buying another one which has two Lightnings. Plus, wireless charging helps prevent the need for any more cables. This is why wireless charging is far more important for me. People say Pixel 6a is a better bargain than an iPhone SE (2022) when the 6a still lacks wireless charging like the Razr 2022, Find N2, and N2 Flip.
