For one thing, HTC Diamond's win can only because it has been sold in Europe far longer than the Omnia is out.

From EISA Awards:
Here’s a device that is certain to attract undivided attention from gadget connoisseurs everywhere. The Touch Diamond’s glossy, shiny case contains an operating system based on Windows Mobile v6.1 Pro, enhanced with a new 3D TouchFlo interface. Images on the 2.8-inch VGA touch-screen are very sharp and clear, making the Touch Diamond a refreshing and rewarding device to use. No user will want for anything in terms of functions, since HTC has included a 3.2 Megapixel camera, 4GB of internal memory, an FM radio and GPS navigation. Connectivity options include HSDPA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and USB. By achieving such slick looks and performance, the Touch Diamond is a clear winner.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Who could resist this piano-black Walkman-series phone? It’s a quad-band handset loaded with 8 GB of internal memory, a 3.2 Megapixel camera, an FM tuner, Bluetooth stereo, and a music player that operates even with the phone flip-lid closed. Opened out, the handset reveals its 2.2-inch QVGA display with 262k colors and stunning picture quality. One incredibly valuable innovation is the built-in FM radio transmitter. This broadcasts phone-based music playback to a standard car radio, even transferring artist and track details via RDS. The music player handles a wide variety of audio file formats, and automatically sorts tracks according to a range of criteria. Finally, two excellent features are the SenseMe and Shake control. These group tracks by mood, enabling track changes and entire playlist shuffling with just a simple flick of the hand.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Is it a phone, or is it a camera? Only a few years ago the SGH-810’s features would have been unimaginable on anything but a high-spec camera. It offers 5 Megapixel resolution from its CMOS sensor, and protects its optical 3x zoom lens with a sliding cover. Image quality is surprisingly good in bright light, while in low-light conditions the xenon flash is a real bonus. Numerous camera-style photo functions include auto focus with face detection, panoramic mode, macro capabilities, multi-shot mode, digital image stabilization and red-eye reduction. Plus the SGH-810 device also includes Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS Geo-tagging, USB, an earphone socket and a slot for microSD memory cards. Best of all, it manages to look at once both elegant and robust.

congratulation and well done to SE W980 for winning the best music phone!
This only proves that even without the standard 3.5 mm jack... it doesn't make any walkman phone less. SE's Wseries is one of a hell music machine!

Remember people, what I said?
"All Camera Phones without OPTICAL ZOOM & XENON FLASH are garbage"
Looks like iPhone sound quality is not so good.
HD resolution in cell phone is very important than camera.
Also, HTC Touch Pro will burn out Samsung Omnia too.
HD LCD display, Hardware GPU & 192 MB DDR SDRAM is much more important than a mid range 5 mp camera.
Also, new Win Mobile PDA Phone competitors: MICROSOFT & DELL.
This is getting old
Nokia can't break Win Mobile chains that they holds
Nokia Symbian products growing cold
Nothing left for going for Win Mobile
Nokia is a loser
A Win Mobile loser
Yeaheeeaah.

Adliayob, 18 Aug 2008Nokia announced its move to buy symbian and to merge s60, u... moreNokia is not forming symbian foundation for themselves, it will be open source for royality free use. Which means you can expect samsung to develop s60 farther of their own which is missing all these days in samsung s60 models, as they were licensed from nokia. It will be infact Samsung/SE that will rival nokia in a much much bigger way. Am sure Lg will follow suite.

even though i'm a nokia fan but i'm gonna admit that the Sony Ericsson W980 is a great music phone, even though not much of a fan of flips this ones kinda different it manages to stand out in when next to other models and it got the feature load to take it all the way and even though the Omnia is great i think the touch diamond just gives it the edge with great display it really is something great just to even browse contacts even though its kinda slow but still....however i don get the G810 for imagining noway man that ain't right, i've seen pics from it and they aren't near as good as the N82 or even N95 the optical zoom might mean something but even the K850i is better in pics than the G810 which is a metal brick at least nokias are light bricks..lol later homies keep chillin

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2008I think c902 deserves best camera phone award SE RULE Im pretty sure the awards were for phone already on the market. Anyways I wonder what factors made them chose the Diamond over the Omnia. Is there any way to see how they came to that conclusion? A chart of some sort?

SE + Nokia Fan, 18 Aug 2008YES!! iPhone is WAY overrated - they are only for those wh... moreNot to mention the fact that you need to use either the iTunes program (the only prgram I've ever seen that won't let you remove it from your computer) or a mac (yuck!). And if you're using iTunes then you can only use it on the computer you registered it on. Has anybody at Apple ever heard the term "user-friendly"...?

I have the W980. It's a veeery good phone for music. The camera is not that great though, so I guess the award makes sense.
