"demand for smartphones and memory chips in particular are the main drivers for Samsung’s negative financial results."
does this mean, people refusing Exynos based Samsung phones is to blame?

I think one of the main causes of this problem is the very bad Exynos processors Samsung sent Exynos to Europe and some Europeans couldn't buy Snap Dragon, so they thought Samsung was racist and loved their pockets more than people, the same thing happened in Asia and other countries. Samsung even sends mmwave technology only to USA!

Anonymous, 06 Jan 2023Not how things work Actually. I'm not willing to buy a phone without a headphone jack or SD card slot - but if I was, I'd consider a Samsung if it wasn't for their off the wall prices. I'm not paying 1650$ for a 512GB phone without a headphone jack or card slot, when I could buy a Sony Xperia 1 IV for 1400$ and add 512GB of storage for 90$, which I would already have from my old phone so it's basically a free upgrade to the already large 256GB, bringing the total to 768GB for the price of an S22 ultra 256GB. (Canadian pricing btw)

Flagship phones are simy too expensive for people to replace them every year, every two years even. Besides of that, people become more conscious about e-waste and with longer software support offered by manufacturers a phone can be kept longer. A combination of all that, with the high price as most important reason, is why flagships sell less. Unless you're Apple and you have a herd following you whatever you do. I used my Note8 for 4,5 years, I use my S22 Ultra since May 2022 and I am not planning to upgrade anytime soon. Also when I will upgrade I am not sure it will be a flagship again. Prices are just insane.

Anonymous, 06 Jan 2023Nobody wants to buy exynos leftovers. The problem with the low-end / mid-range exynos is it's way bellow the Mediatek/Qualcomm counterpart.
I mean, the CPU were slower, the GPU were slower, and the modem were not as good as the competitor.

The plummeting revenue is almost entirely due to the dead post-lockdown PC market. No one buys computers at the moment. Prices on 6-12 months old models are crashing in stores. My nephew bought a high performance gaming Lenovo last week for about 1,200 euros. The graphics card alone did cost more than that six months ago.

But hey, anything to feed the usual Made in China bots from Xiaomi and Apple....
