Apple again rumored to forego actual buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max

11 January 2023
Instead the high-end duo will get solid state buttons with additional Taptic Engines simulating the lost physicality.

Because there is probably no way to boot unless charger is connected. So you also lose the ability to keep the phone off without completely draining the battery! Imagine you don't have a charger nearby and phone goes off, then what? Or they might fit a solar charger like on those calculators, another excuse for the notch. What if the sun's not out? Take it to nearby apple store is what they'll say!
Those shills will call this innovation and progress!

An even funnier was a firsthand experience with Samsung voiding warranty on their sealed phone bec water damage hahaha. Then they told the owner to not let his newly-repaired phone to be doused with water again lol.

The right conditions will trigger the water damage strip even if phone was not subject to water. And these ip-ratings are compromised once repairs are done.

And the best part? User was told by samsung, whoops I slipped, that the now repaired phone should be kept away from water.

Appreciate their decision to remove buttons for even better IP rating and an aesthetically better design

I feel they should first experiment with virtual volume buttons

Anonymous, 12 Jan 2023you literally will not be able to tell the difference unles... moreFor most people resolution beyond 1/11000 of the viewing distance is pointless.

You can not say that a specific screen resoltion like QHD is needed or not per se, it is relative to the screensize and the viewing distance.

Take the PPI number for the display, and multiply by the viewing distance in inches
e.g. 460x20=9200 and you will be close.

Note that it is NOT a limit for what is NEEDED, but a limit for what it is pointless to go beyond.
A few eagled eyed persons can see twice as fine details though - but that is rare.

See e.g. a simple test of your vision here

I hope they'll add a small cut-out to enable the user to locate the button with its fingers. Other than that I think it's a positive. Makes the phone structurally stronger and a bit more water-resistant and durable (physical buttons stop working before haptic buttons do)

I hope people hate it as much as I do since there is no benefit in removing buttons.. Sometimes physical input is much better than digital 🤷‍♂️

Didn't HTC tryed it in one of ther phones and it worked terribly bad?

But tbh, Apple should be able to do this. They did a pretty decent job with the iPhone 7 and onwards, so if the technology is the same, it should be pretty good, if not just as good as the physical buttons.

Nobody complained about it cause it was not a problem. Now for what ever reason it's a problem when there are only very few holes on a phones where water can get in. Now think of the time when we got to change out own battery even on these touch screen phones. The ways dust got in the phone and you clean it up and same with water cause of the removable battery. There were a lot more ways for water damage but it wasn't a issue to anyone. Now for some reason everyone cry about water resistance needed even tough it does not go under warranty when for so miracle you get water damage in the first place.
