Biggest challenge with Flip / Fold from Samsung is that the display cracks after a max of a year, and well the manufacture seems to like to NOT accept there responsibility and just let's the customer pays for the repair.
I know for I have a Fold 3, and my wife a Flip 3 - both have had the display crack in the hinge... They are not meant to be able to be used by opening the phone, that easy it is.

potato4k, 16 Jan 2023This is why competition is needed. Without the Chinese OEMs... moreThey are not idiots. They have their vision, priorities and roadmap. Getting IPX8 for the current devices has been complicated enough. Now they take the next steps while the "competition" has no clear vision and change their devices from generation to generation.
Motorola had the best chances to compete in the flip area, but even they abandoned their own vision and adopted Samsung's design and nobody talks about the Razr anymore.

the biggest problem that foldable display oa still weak and has to be improved. Hinges then, maybe the display is also affescted because of it. GF3 barelly comes without warranty works in active use dor 24 months.

This is why competition is needed. Without the Chinese OEMs, Samsung becomes lazy. I mean it took them 4 generations to realize that the crease is not pleasing to the eye?

won't be surprised that Samsung possibly already have this solution even before the first fold was released.

Also 12mp+108mp+64mp(2x zoom). As opposed to Vivo, samsung is concentrating pixels in ''tele'' sensor. I would still miss hi res raw and fast charge tho.
Not to mention this folding design is not good enough to take on classic form factor camera sensors.

Lonteku , 16 Jan 2023Please enlightened me, u said Samsung already patent from 2... moreSamsung prioritizes IP rating and optimizing the software over the design of the crease, because thats what majority of people expect for durable and long term usage of foldable phone. Dont forget that samsung has over 70% marketshare of foldable phone. Simple as that.
Now with Z Fold 5, people will have foldable phone with near invisible crease with water resistant + good software and interdevice ecosystem
