Weekly poll results: Wired charging needs to be super fast, wireless not so much

29 January 2023
People want wireless charging, they just don't care about its speed. Wired charging, however, that better be done in 15 minutes.

I think that would be a good compromise. Super fast wired charging but only moderately fast or even slow wireless charging. If you're need to charge your phone in a hurry, you plug in the wire but if you want to charge your phone overnight without worrying about battery health you put on a wireless charging pad. They should also include a wireless charging pad in the box to encourage people to use wireless charging unless they need the super fast charging.

Only several rugged phones with battery of 10k+ have good endurance rating.

AnonD-731363, 29 Jan 202386 hours of endurance rating like most phones nowdays. That's below average lol. Most phones have 90+ or even 100+ hrs.

5-10w wireless charging is enough for safe overnight charging. another benefit is in-car wireless charging with android auto or carplay since, cables are not convenient in a car. a low temperature 10w wireless charging can top up battery steadily while using android auto or carplay. but, 5w in-car charging is not enough to top up battery while using navigation and music streaming. wired is for fast charing during the day. so, minimum 50% top up in 30mins is a must.

Some have multiple, like four-batteries at the same time. The most common is the dock which houses the phone, and also charges one battery additionally.

Infact, I've used one since the original HTC phone (named the XDA). And I've also had a variant for the Samsung Galaxy Note as well. It was super practical.

I bought a fast charging phone more than three years ago and I haven't faced any issue with the battery till now. People need to stop believing these baseless rumours.

Fast Charging is trend now. for me i dont need the 0-100% fast charge but rather the fast/quick top-ups while you are outside like 30-80% or 45-80% which only takes 10-20mins that is a game changer for me. as for wireless charging it is still a loooong way to go. the HEAT it generates on both devices while on slow 15w is still not worth it. the magsafe of the certain is the most useless lol. a magnetic wireless pad that adds weight on your phone, the heat on battery while on slow charge lol haha apple does it better lol

If you are charging overnight, you don't need super fast charging, wired or wireless. Even the slowest charging will top up your phone in 2 hours or so, so unless you never sleep, it's actually a non-issue.

I'd rather have a phone with efficient hardware and software that it sips battery all-day instead of having super duper fast charging. The idea is to not having to charge your phone throughout the day, not having to charge it mid-day. It doesn't matter how fast it's charging if you still need to charge it mid-day.

These ultra fast charging seems to be a marketing band-aid to cover up less and less efficient hardware (or bloatware that drains your battery). Also, it rins your battery so you will end up having to upgrade sooner.
