I would love to try out a Sony device but as others have commented, that 21:9 aspect ratio is a deal-breaker. Make the phone too tall and most widescreen content will have massive black bars on the sides.

If it's still 21:9 aspect, I'll keep my XZ2 Premium. 🤔🤔🤔

LoneOwl, 02 Feb 2023As usual with Sony flagships, many people in comments like ... moreI can agree that 2 OS update is not enough. But then again, people change their phone every year or two, so 2 OS update is still okay.

I guess the two rumours was true after all which is same design and bigger sensor. I do hope they have a redesign for the Xperia 1 VI. Can't be using the same design for 10 years in a row since the Sony Xperia 1. Should also focus on the 10 but with bigger display. Nobody buys a compact phone anymore. Imagine a 6.6 or 6.7 inch display Xperia 1 too xd.
They should tune the chipset better too. Ofc the SD8G2 was made with a more efficient node but it's still a flagship chipset. It's not gonna be cool by itself. At least proper heat dissipation and better tuning is in need to control it. Google killing Android One was a bad move since this should benefit devices like Sony and not the lower end budget segment. Oh well. Hopefully Sony promises 3 years of OS and 4 years security this time around.

25+ comments already? 👀 No surprise, Sony is always be the place for people to have (heated) arguments. Anyone has a bag of popcorn around?
.
To the topic itself, I'm surprised 1 V did altered the rear camera design (due to bigger sensors this time and longer periscope telephoto lengths rumours that could be true), but as long the chassis design it is still boxy and blocky like 1 IV or even the one in Xperia Z series, I'm good.

Will still record a loss in the smartphone division if they hold back from using all the tech Sony have, limit the availability and make it appeal to specific users.

I've been looking forward to this one. It's escaped most people's attention, but Sony Xperia has come on leaps and bounds recently. The IV has new haptics, better speakers and higher brightness. For the V, they're apparently going with a new material for heat dissipation and I'm confident that the cameras will be excellent. Here's hoping! (Oh, and don't forget the 4k!)

I stopped at the magnificent Xperia XZ3 after an excellent XZ1C, I'm at Samsung (S21U) but the Xperia really makes me want, I couldn't buy the Xperia 1IV because I found it ridiculously too expensive and that's the problem Sony with the latest Xperia series 1/5/10 too expensive certainly the quality is there and they have their own credentials but it's still expensive. There's a good chance I'll buy the Xperia 1V after all, there are a few things about Xperias that i don't find in other brands

Just fix the damn cooling, since Xperia 1 III that is my biggest and only issue with your phones, because a phone SHOULD NOT overheat on a normal (not sunny) day after talking pictures for 3 minutes.
It’s that the 1 Mark II is bot getting any updates, because then I would stick to that phone until now.

Would like to buy an Xperia but their designs are so unbelievably boring, none of their phones have looked good since they got rid of the “OmniBalance” era and switched to 21:9 for the two people on earth who watch 3 hour movies on their phones. Please make a decently priced and interesting phone Sony, like in the old days.
