Sadly, without good interdevice ecosystem and long software support, Sony would be used only by minority people who uses sd card and headphone jack

Even, not everyone who said "No headphone jack/SD card, no buy" are actually buying Sony.

now there is a thin fan without a propeller, it was shown at CES where is the news GSMArena? The name is Frore system airjet. Sorry OOT.

WhatSAComputer, 03 Feb 2023I don't understand the 21:9 being such a deal breaker,... moreI use the original xperia 1 and believe me when I say I adore this aspect ratio! My friends uses the Samsung A52 and each time they use my phone for gaming, they always compliment the aspect ratio. I mean 21:9 is fantastic.

The new design would be a change in the current one. Would be interesting to see how Sony will get away if not using the ToF and RBG sensor

TheGoldenMellifluous, 03 Feb 2023Although the official spelling for unreleased Xperia 5 V is... moreOkay, today is the first time i know this information.

I thought Xperia 1 iii and Xperia 1 mark 3 are two difference devices, which the later one is the sony "mark" edition😂

Looks like Sony needs to spend more money into marketing/PR department.

            My next phone! 😍😍😍

Still looking forward to it as camera is not in my top 5 most important things on a phone. All I want, compared to the IV, is:

              1. Better cooling (rumors point to larger heat sink and ceramic body)
              2. More 5G bands for versatility (especially with GoogleFi).
              3. LTPO (to which rumors are pointing to a V2 of their display chip from the Marks iii and IV to emulate 24Hz-120Hz/240Hz motion blur reduction).

Instant upgrade from my Mark iii for this. I wouldn't mind also:

              1. Slightly larger display (rumors are pointing to a 6.9" BOE panel to which I'd like to see it).
              2. Amplified DAC inside the headphone jack
              3. Slightly more software support (3 years would be plenty for me)
              4. Beefier speakers
              5. H.S. in the camera apps and car mode.

I get the above too and this would be no contest for me.

I'll just be straightforward here. I rather buy iPhone than this Sony Xperia 5 🙄

It's looking good. Better than iv.

sony low key really is the hottest/best phone, no stupid notches and cutouts, with a clean sleek uniform design, best screen u can get, expandable sd storage, headphoe

"literally be the hottest" LOL 🤣🤣🤣

When title said hottest, I thought major design change.
Didnt think it is going to be literally Hottest device.

So yeah you end up with a taller screen (23.1:9) but with basically the same narrowness

They need to lower the price, focus on longer OS/security update policy, improved heat dissipation system and better auto mode for camera with proper HDR and night photography.

WhatSAComputer, 03 Feb 2023I don't understand the 21:9 being such a deal breaker,... moreFor context look up the Vivo X Fold outer screen, that has a 21:9 aspect ratio too, but doesn't have the Xperia bezels, so you can get a clearer understanding of the actual screen size.

Than you can balance if you prefer a smaller footprint or front firing stereo speakers (+ better battery/screen ratio + a better landscape user experience) and make an informed choice.

Also I said that 20:9 is the industry standard because most androids use them, but iphones come at 19.5:9 and curved displays are kinda hard to measure since they warp a bit (the s23U comes at 19.3:9), also ROGs come at 20.4:9.
every other android flat screen is more likely to come at 20:9.

21:9 is perfect for cinema wide content tho

I don't understand the 21:9 being such a deal breaker, especially the tallness

                                    At 6.5" a 21:9 screen is 152x65 mm

The 6.6" S22+ is 153×69 mm (20:9 the industry standard)
The 6.5" A52 is 151x68 mm (20:9 the industry standard again)

Is a 2mm difference on each side when watching 16:9 content so noticeable? Or are you just getting tricked by the bezel (that house front facing speakers!)

Is the symmetrical forehead so obnoxious to reach? What are you even reaching it for? It's a non interactive bezel!

I can simpathize with people who complain about narrowness tho, I too wish xperias were more like the Z Ultra and have a 8.6" screen (if they keep the modern design language)

Still... It will be nice if Sony can match competitor update commitment.
