If someone don't want a certain feature, then they can choose not to have it, just like building a PC. None will force headphone jack upon you in such a system. But those who want it will have option. Plenty of people would welcome it even if you don't

More like you never use one. I only use Surface Go 3 with Intel Core i3 CPU, but even I can tell it's a great little tablet. Unlike Android and iPadOS, I can run any desktop software I want in it.

Anonymous, 05 Feb 2023I don't care arm or x86. I care on which one I can get... moreThat is why I welcome the new breed of ChromeOS tablet with ARM chipset. It makes so much sense as a legit desktop tablet compared to Android tablets that can only run mobile apps from Play Store. That is also why I still don't understand Google for halting the development of Pixel Slate and shift focus for Pixel Tablet. The Pixel Slate is a perfectly capable Linux tablet that can also run Android mobile apps. I'd rather see Google making a new Pixel Slate with Tensor G2 chipset.

It isn't, actually. Looking at the Top 10 positions of the 60th TOP500 as of November 2022, only two supercomputers are running on ARM. Yes, just TWO. It's not exactly replacing x86, are we?

Mobile phones should have options to come without OS and should have options to include features like microSD card, headphone jack, removable battery, custom camera sensors etc. They should fully allow users to choose from any of Android distributions without voiding warranty, as long as no damage due to this process is done.

Even though Android use Linux kernels, it never has GNU Linux support. That is why you can never install any Linux desktop software natively on an Android smartphone. I have to use something like Andronix to run any of my favourite Linux desktop software like Audacity and Darktable, to name just two. With ChromeOS itself based on Gentoo, which is a GNU Linux desktop distro, and also having Play Store support, I can't see any problem for Google to develop a convergence mode where you have Android UX on a smartphone and full-blown legit ChromeOS UX on an external monitor or a lapdock. After all, that is what we see on GNU Linux smartphones like Purism Librem 5 and PINE64 PinePhone/PinePhone Pro.

I could have picked the Wi-Fi version with 12th gen Intel Core CPU, but my Intel NUC 11 Enthusiast is still doing solid work.
