Conduction is how heat leaves phones. Thin phones = less material to conduct through

[deleted post]Besides Apple, which brand can burn money on all those tvs ads ?
Besides Apple, which brand can afford being at all stores all over globe except North Korea?

Samsung Mobile has much higher budget than all other brands (except apple) , still refuses to use best components on own phones.

      - screens with low PWM frequency like low midranges (less than 250Hz)
      - no 10bit
      - no quantum dots oled with blue substrate , like new sony oled tvs
      - crap GN3 when imx766/890 are far superior. Also cheap chinese lenses, no glass element in there.
      - pathetic base s23 with ufs3.1, instead of base 256GB/4.0
      - Ultra has had periscope for years, still no zoom lens , just prime.
      - copy stuff from other and advertise as new, with help of bias youtubers

Samsung phones had obligation to be the best at everything, but are not at anything.

Samsung user, 11 Feb 2023I dont want to ruin your party. ..but S23+ actually cost... morePointless when phone cant handle all those updates.

        1) out of box, it is already slower than other phones with same SoC. Blame all junk running background (app store, pay etc that are worse than all google services)

        2) after 12 months, it gets even slower. Other phones do not. I am tired of seing samsung users complaining phone is slow. Sister has Z Flip 3 and is already saying that. Poor designed software again (not even counting childish app icons) .

        3) more updates = more risk of issues unsolved, I say because I got f***ed by installing many iOS versions on ipad. Not worth over out of box firmware. But there is no choice from apple, you install or cant use apps.

        4) s23 is gonna get up to android 17, not 18. Also, after 18 months the patches stop being monthly even on flagships, at some point just every 6 months.

        5) ppl here that demand long software are ones that often claim to have latest device. What is the point?

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2023Don't know why the author thinks thin = overheating. ... moreIf you're right then laptops would have better cooling then desktops since they're thinner.
Thinner means less volume hence less air available to perform cooling. Also less space for enough components that could aid cooling.
I think best cooling would be a metal back. The metal back should be in contact with the processor through a copper heatpipe. Glass is poor at conducting heat. They could atleast try connecting heatpipe to metal frame!

Don't know why the author thinks thin = overheating. Obviously doesn't know how physics works. Thick phones means the heat is trapped inside the phone. Thin phones will allow the heat to be dissipated into the air.
