apple's CPU cores are faster. qualcomm's GPU cores are faster. if the workload's GPU based (eg. video editing, photo editing, playing games) then it'll be faster on the samsung. if its CPU based (eg. loading large games/files) then the iphone will win.
so assess your use cases before purchasing a phone? imo GPU speed's far more important since mostly everything we do on phones involves content creation, and usually handling large files or other CPU intensive tasks (emulation?) are done on computers (and usually iOS blocks them anyways)

Berserker, 25 Feb 2023Wrong bro. Time is money and a couple of those millisecond... moreWhat is it with this new wave of people thinking they're wise for saying "Time is money"? You aren't taking into account that in order to buy these phones you need money which requires dedicated work time to begin with, making your "time is money" argument null because you're spending extra time to buy the more expensive phone.

Great specs sounds nice, but really it's an elementary thing. Most people won't use half of what the device is capable of doing. Do you want everything to sync up together nicely. Go iOS. You want to be able to use your phone freely without many restrictions found in apple products then use Android. In the end your splitting hairs on just the camera quality

Set the Samsung animation to 0.5x and use 3 navigation buttons and the Samsung would probably be ahead by 10 seconds.

Samsung does not have to go by Apple rules to give it a chance.

Just milliseconds? Man come on. Pick one you like. Android or iOS. Whichever you pick will get great camera great battery life great screen great speed great everything. You can't get bad experience as they are flagships. It is all about OS. Now pick it. For me Android is cool and advanced. So I will pick Android.

Samsung still overclocked the Qualcomm Gen 2 processor for it's phone . I don't care since in not a gamer However throttling should also be tested. Sometimes we 3 like weekend drag racers.....the results aren't relevant in everyday usage.

When you add that to the calculation, things look a little different.

Four months ago, Fold 4 defeated iPhone 14 Pro Max by 3 seconds with a Snap 8+ Gen 1. So a lot of this depends on optimization and RAM management. We really didn't see Qualcomm catch up to Apple until last year. I've seen PhoneBuff speed tests where an iPhone 5S with the A7 chip defeated the Galaxy S5 with 801 by 3 seconds.

Apple really took off with their chipsets by 2015 with the A9 that the 6S/SE1 had. The A10 Bionic the 7 had was faster in CPU by nearly 500 MHz and GPU by 250 MHz. Qualcomm never really caught up to Apple from 2015-2021. They did narrow the gap with the maligned 888 and 8 Gen 1 but it really wasn't until late last year that I finally saw Android phones defeating the latest iPhone with the 8+ Gen 1.

Also, pixel 7 is much cheaper and even smoother than the iphone 14 pro

I experienced a lot of animation lag on my S22 plus, something which is unheard of on my 4 year old iPhone 8
Maybe this is one ui to blame rather than the phone's hardware but who knows
Either way, after 4 years of use, an Android flagship starts behaving like a $70 entry level phone and will lag just by you unlocking the phone...

It's quite impressive how Qualcomm managed to narrow down the performance in just 2 generations, all while making it cooler and more power efficient. SD 8 Gen 2 was really well worth the wait and I'm glad I waited and didn't jump on SD 8+ Gen 1. There was no Galaxy S with it anyway so there's that too.
