I hate Xiaomi, it took them 2 years so bring out a phone with 200w after they showed the demo.. So we will be able to buy 300w phone in 2025. We may not even be alive then.

UltraHD, 28 Feb 2023Unnecessary, if you can't live without your phone for ... moreIt's good for me as i always tend to forgot and leave the phone charged for so long at 100%...

These are like Grenade in your pocket... Beware of unpredictable blast... Just to keep on increasing the charging is not innovation, rather we need a phone which can last upto 3-4 days in 1 charge.

The day is not to far when we will see 1MW Charger.

            Just Rubbish this are all.

Rather doing this company should focus on durability of smartphone

I think this would be great for those who don't have steady access to electricity.

Cyberchum, 28 Feb 2023Your RAM analogy is incredibly flawed. RAM stores data for ... moreit was only comparison how people were saying in the past that its too much RAM, we dont need it and so on..... and now, of course we need more RAM, so conclusion is that its never too much.
this has nothing to do with your answer....you went in completely completely wrong direction.

But how often does it blow up and set your house on fire?

Ok, this is going waaay too far. It is always about the big numbers, instead of useful features

Can’t wait for these Chinese phone manufacturers to invent 500W charging in 1 minute & 1000W charging in few milliseconds.

For me the key question is: How does that affect battery life time?

I can't imagine what will happen in 5 years? xdd

Anonymous, 28 Feb 2023why is too much? now you sound like few years back...ow...... moreYour RAM analogy is incredibly flawed. RAM stores data for short-term use. It holds actively or passively running information and data for quick access and recall. These data could vary in sizes depending on the programme/application being used. Yes, the size of smartphone applications tend to grow progressively over time.

What does battery do? Stores for and provides electric power to the phone. Unlike RAM, the capacity of the battery to hold and supply electric power reduces over time. Even if it doesn't reduce, it never grows. It's impossible for it to grow: a 5000mAh cell will never grow to become 6000mAh.

So, what exactly is your logic?

I was just thinking that 10 minutes with 240w is really slow. And here we go.. 5 minutes with 300w. Thanks to Realme & Redmi. Nobody ever asked for a useful 12 or 16 MP ultrawide. All we need is more powerrrrr!

Well clearly this comment section is and will be divided in two groups...one group are those that know this is getting exaggerated and it is all a matter of competition of who gets the fastest charging and those that think this is actually good (and in some cases not enough) and it won't downgrade battery performance in any way.....plus they can't stay without their phones for more than 5 minutes

Do people need stuff like supercars or hypercars? Or GPUs like RTX 4090? Almost always no, but having so much of something at your fingertips is always cool and makes stuff just tiny bit easier.

David 040882, 28 Feb 2023Ridiculous and unnecessary People don't see it but this is a marketing stunt and excellent selling strategy. Of course phone can charge that fast, but that fast charging will always be turned off by default because it DOES harm the battery. BUT, user will enable it anyway because the user doesn't care about battery health. In a year, battery will degrade a lot (more than it would with normal, slow charging) and that will prompt users to replace the phone. User might be unhappy because the device didn't last as long as its previous, but it's a win-win for Xiaomi who made money over and over again.

If I cannot turn off fast charging completely, I charge phone via USB slowly on PC through the night. That way you'll get the max out the battery. My 4 year phone still holds a single day of moderate use otherwise it would barely last half a day or less.
