Oki, 13 Mar 2023I don't really see the point of flip foldables. To mak... moreIn a modern day the only way to get a compact phone as pocket friendly phone only as flip phone. We have these so called compact phones from Samsung, Apple and even Xiaomi.

Well Xiaomi is the largest as 6.36 inch screen on there Xiaomi 13.
Samsung S series standard model is compact with 6.1 inch screen
Apple 14 is also same size as S23 with 6.1 inch screen.
There is also Asus Zenfone 9 that is 5.9 inch screen even tough it has enough bezel to be as large as iphone 14 and S23

These all are flagship phones with flagship prices, Maybe Google Pixel 7a be cheaper then the rest as you can get the Pixel 6a for now around 360 euro that is also more compact with 6.1 inch screen even tough it's 6mm taller then S23 and iphone 14

With flip phone there is a chance that we get it from some China brand for under 300 euro as it seems to be better chance then they make a compact phone. There dumb excuse is that market want large phones while market is full of only 6.4 inch and bigger screen phones that also have a lot of bezels so they reach in 170mm tall

Also, I don't even have to buy a tablet because of DeX. I just connect the phone to my external monitor and keyboard at home using a DeX Station, and I'm good to go.

Nowadays all foldable phones with vertical axis (like galaxy fold) are too large even in folded position. I would buy it only if it's size in folded position would be similar to iphone 4 and also if price would be much lower, than now. Phones with horizontal axis (like galaxy flip) are too large in folded position too, but not terrible large, so maybe i will buy it, when price will decrease. Price will decrease, so main problem is too large size, similar as traditional not foldable phones. My current phone is samsung galaxy s4 mini.

              Foldables should be banned
              They're a scam
You're paying twice as much for a phone that has the same or worse specs than a normal flagship phone while also being 10 times as fragile and with a cheap plastic screen that gets scratches from your fingernails
People only buy them to flex not knowing they just got scammed for $2000

Actually any ratio bigger screen is better for media content.
Maybe in the future will be 3way fold with 3:2 or 21:9 ratio.
For now this is still better than 7" phone in the pocket, even if thick.

You can say that a 75" TV has "only" a 13% bigger display than a 65". That's not much, no? You shouldn't spend extra for 75" TV's, no? Well, you will be wrong, did you see the difference between a 75" TV and a 65"? Is night and day.
Of course, I am not excusing Galaxy Fold here, I am just saying that your logic (even though your calculation is mathematically correct), is not good.
Also, when it comes to gadgets used for media consumption, bigger is always better. Period.

I don't really see the point of flip foldables. To make it smaller in your pocket? Why not just make a smaller phone like in the old days. S10e was one of the best compact phones ever.

In a same way I don't see the point of horizontal foldables. You're most likely not going to use it unfolded on the go so why bother having a bulky phone constantly when you can buy a flagship and a tablet for the same price?

Our phones are already big enough, so stop with this hyper consumer technology and maybe get a life?

I don’t really see the point of horizontal foldables because they don’t actually make the device any smaller in your pocket and the extra screen size is a weird square aspect ratio that is not really useful. Personally I don’t like foldables at all, I want solid glass and a solid frame.

Weird way to say horizontal or vertical foldable. Like it's confusing.
I would like to have a flip foldable that should be vertical as it make the phone more compact.
It will fit in my pockets without being half the phone out of the pocket.
With flip it be like cigarette pack in your pocket

When i bought my refurb Fold 3 for 820 euros i sold my old og Fold for 350 euros. For new foldable Flip style phone there could be 599-699 dollars(Tcl was about to release their mid range Flip foldable in 2021 for 699 dollars but thought it was too expensive compared to Samsung Flip series) option for like 2023-2025 and for big Fold style foldable there is already 999 dollars Tecno Fold so big foldable prices are also dropping and there could be 799-899 dollars in 2024-2025.

Jumped on the foldable bandwagon with Samsung Fold 3, and been using it for a bit over a year now. No regrets whatsoever. Yes, the crease is an eyesore still, but only if I actively think about it. Had no issues with durability of the inner screen, apart from the screen protector starting to peel off, which was handled expressly by the Samsung Customer Care at no cost. That being said, I´m not babying the thing: it has been with me on countless bike rides, visited the beach on multiple occasions, got wet in surprise showers, and fell on the floor a couple of times. Using it with the aramid fiber case, nothing else. Had no issues with aspect ratio of apps, or anything of that kind. Actually, while most people are whining about the narrow and tall outer screen, I find that to be a plus point, since it allows me to type one handed on the external screen. All in all, I am firing up my PC for a lot less tasks, and I am so used to the thing right now, that I am not sure how I would go back to the normal bar phone.
