Couldn't care less about patent infringement, but I don't care about oppo much more. Their phones were always very overpriced even before inflation happened, especially for a basically unknown brand in Europe. It would be a shame if realme left with them but there's been less and less value there recently.

Tom209, 27 Mar 2023From what I've read on the issue, is that Oppo disagre... moreThis may explain the reason for the mediocre & stagnant specs we've seen within the mid range segment over the last 12-18 months or so - with manufacturers using recycled specs from previous models/lower end chipsets - coupled with the chip shortage issue/cost of living crisis & the situation in RUS/UKR.

From what I've read on the issue, is that Oppo disagreed to renew the patent licenses due to a price increase imposed by Nokia during the renewal phase.
Oppo attempted to negotiate a price, however their offer was refused. Nokia claims that all other manufacturers using the patents are paying the updated price(s), but only oppo refused & are seeking to pay less than other manufacturers. Oppo requested repeated extensions for a decision, however this was never granted by Nokia.
Nokia sued on the basis that oppo continued to use the patents/sell their devices without renewing the patent licenses.
This could easily be resolved if Oppo just pays Nokia the new asking price(s), like other manufacturers. 🤷♂️

Hmd makes... moreBecause there is no real Nokia phone dosent mean Nokia stopped to innovate, every year they spend more than 4B Euros in researching, they own one of the largest research laboratory in world like Bell Lab, Every year they fill thousands of patents, they have over 20,000 patents for Various things.
If you dont know Even Likes of Huawei and Xiaomi moved to Finland their camera lab are there inside old Nokia Building and they use Ex Nokia employees, its 2023 and 10 years since Nokia exit mobile market but they are still relevant and Many Companies depend on their innovations.
Oppo and Other bbk they used Ozo audio, Vivo was one company which took Zeiss lens after Nokia licence end, they had lot of Nokia related and inspired tech, and they paid without problems, but now they decide not to pay what do you expect Nokia to do? And i wont be suprised if Nokia countinue to sue them in other markets like india because they still use those tech.

Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Lenovo, Oppo(used to) and almost every brand pay Nokia, but this Time Oppo decide not to pay and they still use Nokia tech what do you expect Nokia to do?

Samsung might be selling in the low tier, but in the high one Apple wins.
