Oppo reportedly pulls out of key European markets

The likely reason behind the move is Oppo's legal battles with Nokia.

Say what you want about BBK/Oppo/Realme..

From my own personal experience and from others that I know, their mid range devices have been of a much higher quality and durability compared to HMD's reductive efforts (specifically the C, G & X series - especially the G60/X10/X20).

If these rumors are true, I hope an amicable resolution between Nokia/BBK can be reached.

    Well, maybe this should make us think hard to start making phones here instead of relying on mainly Chinese brands. Maybe this would force us to be ready to pay a higher price given that the cost of making it here would be higher... paying the right price would make more people happy over here as they would earn a decent salary in the process. It would potentially also force to consume in a thoughtful way instead of overconsuming, driven by lower prices. Agreed, Chinese phones aren't dirt cheep anymore and we cannot say they aren't able to make very decent products.

        Wondered why three mobile have ditched oppo and oneplus. Now if you want a cheap highish end phone only options on three are honor and xiaomi. Tried the xiaomi and still waiting for android 13 on 12tpro..good for gaming and thats about it. Feels like an old phone already.. Never touching xiaomi again.

            skimminstones, 27 Mar 2023They make same good products but the software support, at l... moreThat's not entirely true. Mid range Realme & Oppo phones have already received Android 13 (in the UK). In fact, they received the update at the end of last year.

            HMD's G60/X30 have yet to recieve android 13.. 7 or so months after their release, and with android 14 on the horizon..

            Nevertheless, if this "rumor" of BBK pulling out of certain markets is true, the only negative direct impact will be on us, the consumer, as less competition & less choice, equals less innovation & higher pricing.

              Ok wel then leave. I think we'll manage to survive oppo and oneplus. Not that they are bad devices but hey, they're not indispensable. If true, it would mean they are trying to threaten European markets to not allow the lawsuits without consequences. No one should allow that. Another reason could be a Chinese attempt to impose sanctions on western markets. Anyhow, only the company above oneplus and oppo or realme would lose a substantial revenue. I don't think anyone would kill themselves over here for that just as we survived the (forced) departure of huawei. And that was a much harder pil to swallow given the damn good quality of their upper midrange and top of the range devices.

I thought the USP of Chinese phones are they are cheaper for a given spec and this helps in faster upgrades than holding on to a costly phone for longer.
