P C M, 30 Mar 2023first of all is in compressed size so can't really com... moreThe thing is that GCAM is way, way less sharpened :). It has just more details but when looking 1:1 it looks much more natural. With Samsung, you have halos from oversharpening and overprocessing. But you might be right, looking at compressed pictures is not the best way to get an opinion. Anyways.
I took S23 Ultra only because I have a friend in Samsung, who rent me the phone on day one availability, so I can test it. I discovered GCAM and I knew, that result is much better than anything from ExpertRAW or the base app from Samsung, so I took it. My dream smartphone is something like Oppo Find X6 PRO - good ultrawide, good main lens, and 2,5x or 3x very good zoom, but it is not available worldwide, and even if I get it, 5g, VoLTE and VoWIFI would not work in my country, so no point.
So again, agree, if not GCAM, I would not recommend anyone Samsung as a camera phone, and I would not take it myself.

SirArtur, 30 Mar 2023And you don't have to take my word for granted. There ... morefirst of all is in compressed size so can't really compare. What I can see is the gcam is more sharpened than the Galaxy shot but anyway I don't want to argue about it. You believe what you believe in. Probably you are right because I have never compared it directly with GCAM But I like what Samsung provide, that's all that matters.
truth to be told I wouldn't buy galaxy for the camera. I would buy Xperia 5 III or ZTE nubia 50 pro because of the 35MM lens. I don't like this wide cameras no matter how good this is and Sony because of the telephoto lens they provide. To me telephoto is the most important lens in a phone because the white cameras actually it's actually looks weird, I mean specially the human subjects, they look unnatural, I mean they look thinner than they already are. anyway enough chit chat, have a nice day.

Some delay is ok. Who wants to record motion blur from tapping the screen. No Samsung nailed this, but gives in a bit now because all those hasty whiners.

Not only camera but also gaming performance need to be improved.

There you go, just snapped pictures. https://files.fm/u/tu9p9rwzd . You have a full overview and zoom 1:1 to detail. As you said, the processing is a personal preference, but Samsung is blowing out the sky, so it is a no from me, and look at the details in 1:1. You cannot just zoom Samsung picture, because the detail is a mess. With GCAM, you can crop it, and still looks good.

Far more natural, with much, much more details. So I'm not comparing it to the pixel, just saying that with the right software, S23 Ultra can give so much better pictures than what you have out of the box.

I myself prefer the galaxy photos over pixel 7 pro and so do many tech reviewers. so how come gcam is better than the galaxy? So are you trying to tell that Google couldn't perfect it for their own products But it's better for Samsung?

Patrik, 30 Mar 2023If you want the whole fake moon, you habe to buy Huawei phones. Samsung

This is a very quick update, Samsung has improved a lot.

It is massive. And second thing is, that it is oversharpening very poor input. The image just lacks real details, no matter the resolution. 12 Mpix is terrible IMO, and 50 Mpix resized to 12 Mpix afterward is better, but as someone here mentioned, GCAM on S23 Ultra shows how big the potential is in this smartphone, and how bad Samsung processing is. GCAM can output only 12 Mpix pictures, but as for details they are almost on pair with 50 Mpix ExpertRAW in great light, and have better details in worse light conditions. It is so annoying, that I have a smartphone, that is told to be camera king, and to have decent pictures, I need to use 3rd party app.

Want very good photos ? Go buy a DSLR not a phone. Go watch Ben's gadget on you tube and you will see that you either don't know how to take photos in pro mode or you have a defective unit. He made a video comparison with the latest flagships and the camera on S23U is good.

[deleted post]Slightly means slightly. Samsung cameras oversharp jpegs such strong that results in very visible halos and artifacts and unnatural look. When you see it only on phone screen it's okay, but on typical 15" laptop screen looks very bad. If you want to crop picture, you receive unusable peace of shit. Another problem is shadows processing. S23U camera tends to recover every dark area on picture. Sometimes pavements, roads or buildings look...wet. On the other side, suppresed highlights look grey or olive-grey.
