This only thing that stops this from being a huge hit is cameras. This is a gaming centric phone but for the price, the cameras do not do justice. At this price, this will be a daily driver for those who buy it and a daily driver must have competitive cameras. I'm in the market for a new phone and I waited for this to see if cameras got any upgrade. It seems I have to wait for Sony Xperia 1 iv. I don't know when it'll get released or if it will have at least a 45 or 65 watt charging speed.

T888, 19 Apr 2023No memory card slot so the battle is lost. That especially doesn't make sense on a phone like this. Nothing is for the consumer anymore.

Anonymous, 17 Apr 2023If the phone is priced extremely aggressively for the 512gb... moreIt will have a good software and the bootloader can be unlocked. But because it is a 512GB model. And not a 1TB model or had an expandable storage via microsd card. Depending on the games that you'll carry. I can say about 100 games or less.

Anonymous, 17 Apr 2023If the phone is priced extremely aggressively for the 512gb... moreAsus always give two OS update for ROG Phone, which is longer than any gaming phone ever exist. Asus also release the bootloader unlock tool and the kernel codes (https://www.xda-developers.com/asus-rog-phone-6-bootloader-unlock-tool-kernel-sources/) if you want to play around with custom ROM.

If the phone is priced extremely aggressively for the 512gb model, then maybe. I say that because it has no Micro SD card slot. I have no idea how good the software support will be and if it will have an unlockable bootloader.

without the cooler, the iPhone 14 and its variants are faster. ASUS pricing is absurd, it is like Razer pricing on its gaming products. Good thing their motherboard division is not as bad, which is where all ASUS/Asustek started.

Unpopular opinion but the back of this phone looks real ugly. ROG 5 was much better there. For this sole reason I'll avoid buying this. Matte finish with that weird line running diagonally eww why Asus

Anonymous, 17 Apr 2023No. 1440p is 2.5k. 2k is like 2050 x 1080 instead of 1920... moreTell that to the Samsung haters for whining about not having 2k screens…

Well I can't afford it currently, but if i could, i'd definitely buy it and i'm not even a gamer. All I want is a phone with a perfect screen, perfect battery and perfect speakers+3.5mm jack. And that's definitely the best phone combining all this. I don't care too much about the camera; with gcam every camera is decent enough for me.

The problem with gaming phones like the ROG Phone and the Nubia Red Magic is that the chipset isn't different from a normal premium flagship. You can buy something like the Motorola Edge 40 Pro still get similar performance. Of course gaming phone benefits from better cooling, but you can get a GameSir X3 gamepad that has built-in cooling. I don't know, I'm still divided by gaming phones in general.

ASUSBOY9823, 16 Apr 2023Software support is not up-to scratch. This phone needs at ... moreThis, especially with the outrageous prices they are charging and it also doesn't really have cameras as good as Samsung or OnePlus.
I care about long term support so for me it is most likely a Google Pixel when the OnePlus 7 Pro stops getting Lineage OS updates or dies. The Pixel may not get the longest support, but it is unlockable, supports easy flashing and is a sure thing for Lineage OS and other high quality ROMs long after Google pulls the plug.
I also don't consider 4 years of updates courtesy of Samsung and OnePlus to be all that great considering how powerful the hardware is now, it may be the best in the Android world but is nothing to praise and a minimum of 6 with 7 years of security updates would be decent.

Mmmma, 16 Apr 2023i would get the steam deck instead and it costs half the priceI'm not a Linux guy, but I would seriously consider getting the Steam Deck. After all, it's still a desktop-grade device in the first place.

Personally i don't get the "Gaming" looks. The things i love from gaming devices are the software and hardware features that enhances my gaming experience, like better cooling and a bit more balanced stereo sound (sadly asus removed the quad dac). I could be more inclined to buy the rog phone if it was priced lower, since if just for gaming there are other cheaper alternative.
