Anonymous, 15 Apr 2023Actually, Android Enterprise program list security support ... moreWell, thank you for the Android Enterprise link, it contains a lot of useful information when it comes to security updates, even though it is "as provided by manufacturer and not verified by Google". But really, the (very well populated) "data not provided" category when it comes to frequency of updates shouldn't be a thing at all, or mostly empty. Manufacturers should be providing this information.
And the point is, all this information should be provided and readily available for all phones as a standard - and not only for the select few that are in the AER programme.

Actually Samsung Members is made by Samsung employees. It's not just what you claim (re: user forum) it is.
That's one of the places where Samsung posts beta updates and allows people to sign up for it. Android Verified Boot requires the same custom key as Samsung, therefore, users cannot make their own beta firmware on locked bootloaders without messing around with that stuff.
Users do post there but for customer support only. I don't have a Samsung phone anymore because I'm on Pixel 7 Pro but when I did (Galaxy S8 Plus), Samsung would regularly post its update cycle for a lot of its devices.

It cannot be left so unclear and muddy.
Say "Add will receive 3 years of monthly security updates, 1 year of quarterly and 1 year biannual security updates a and 4 new versions of Android and OneUI". It's not really that hard, this should be standard.

Oscar, 14 Apr 2023While this directly does not mention OS updates Samsung has... moreWell, the problem with this is that it is a constantly changing "current" list, that doesn't give indication as to until when a phone is going to be in a specific sublist (schedule), or in the list at all, and websites it refers you to for "more information" are similarly vague, with "up to" numbers and "select" models (unnamed)

tekina, 15 Apr 2023Here ya go : https://www.sammobile.com/news/stable-android-... moreThat's just a Samsung fan blog, making assumptions based on Samsung's less specific press releases. That's not official document like what I posted from Google.
Like I said, I'm not arguing about Samsung's actual support effort. I applauded Samsung for having the gold standard in Android support. I'm talking about the actual details of the information. Why can't they just make a table of their handsets and give specific EOL dates and specific timeline for security patches? What's wrong in giving those information straight to consumers?
The Android Enterprise list posted by another user from Xiaomi is actually a good official document stating how long the software support will be. That's good, but it would be better if that is easily accessible by consumers from their regular websites.

And if you have used Samsung smartphones, then you'll know that the list on this website comes from Samsung's in-app notification which states which phones get updated when. There isn't a major lack of transparency. Probably not as well worded as a lot of other companies, I'll agree to that.
