If you want timely updates without(mostly) any bugs go for Samsung.Been using the A52s ever since it's release and the updates are always on time and the phone has been optimized really well to suit the 778G.

Almost no manufacturer actual cares about software update, it's an additional cost for them. Samsung offers monthly update, just for their flagships. Non flagships receive each 3 months. It's always not fair comparing Android vs Apple, since Android is a huge ecosystem maintained by many, while Apple is a single source. Best for Android is: stick as close as aosp and generic kernel. Made any customization upon in as an removable extension. Thus monthly updates can be delivered easily, even an os update too.

They should stop this race of a new version every year. Make it every two or three and just keep updating security things first, and adding features second.

And if a stundent in a basement can keep custom rom support for phones 3,4 years after their "official" support ends then I don't see how a billion dollar company can not afford to...

Not surprised considering the poor track record of most Android brands on upgrade, especially the Chinese ones who sell a lot of phones and don't update them for a long time. My brother's Xiaomi phone is yet to get Android 13 and Android 14 beta is already out. Beside Samsung and pixels, no brand in my knowledge updates phone on time, especially after an year when new models are available.

but what about budget phones?? as android os advances, low end socs would render useless. there is no way to solve the lag.. unless they want to change phones every month. just because of updates.

It's a meh to consider upgrading the latest version from Android 11 that might break changes. You should prefer security patch update instead to get 4-5 years ahead of the Android launch, so you don't worry when the features got changed, unless you want it to figure out the changes that could help you find out major changes. It's solid for long term use.
