LG Innotek has that module 4.4 - 9x.
Nobody has bother to pay for.
Gossips say Sony and Apple may use it , since LGI already was involved with xperia periscope and Apple can afford whatever they want.
Samsung is weird. Gives imx766 to A54, but inferior GN3 to S23. 🤦🏻♂️
Also, they hate to pay for expensive stuff. Their screens do not have same M material from iphone. M11 on s23u while M13 for 15 pro max

I can't wait to see the first phone which can do continuous optical zoom from like 2x to like 8x. I don't care if such phone should be more thicker than 9 mm, or 1 cm. 15 years ago all of the phones where thicker, but their camera where still mediocre compared of what we have today.

Further more, on this one S24 Ultra specifically, they don't just straight up 'remove' it, but the idea is a lot more of 'merging', so I don't see the harm here.

I think Samsung is trying to improve the continuous zoom capabilities like the ones found in Sony Xperia 1 IV. Interesting to see how it all pans out.

Maybe Samsung will make a continuous optical zoom phone as we see on the Xperia IV from last year, but even better. Or maybe they will make the S24 Ultra with a shorter range of optical zoom(6x or 7x), and below that range using AI to make digital zoom as crisp as possible.

The thing I'm concerned about most is that "Exynos". I was planning to buy the s24 but if they bring Exynos, I would have to look somewhere else.

Honestly we should all go back to a single sensor.
I end up using the main camera 99% of the time anyway since the other sensors just aren't as good.
Just give us an APSC single sensor with actual zoom capabilities. Make the phone double the thickness it's now, and use it for a larger battery. Bring back the headphone jack. Done.
