    FO2, 01 May 2023What's wrong with side finger print scanner? Dont bother.

    Some people here donot know in-screen FPS causes uneven brightness in that portion comparred to rest of phone.
    If screen breakes, the scanner needs to be replaced as well because it is fully integrated. If scanner breakers, you lose screen too.
    Also fact many screen protectors do not work properly with it.

            you hate the software, thats kind of a you problem
            they offer clean software compared to samsungs no doubt feature rich but laggy software

Just to name a few: wi-fi randomly disconnecting or not connecting until I specifically go to wifi settings and click the wifi I connect to literally every day, fingerprint issues (sometimes I need to restart the phone just to get the FP working again), phone randomly dropping to safe mode after restart, small things like the the buttons from the drop-down menu not reacting or having to click it multiple times to find out if its turned on or not because it keeps changing colors... Simply things that I never experiences on my previous Samsung phones. But it makes sense because Samsung probably has like 100 times bigger software development budget than Sony. Also the camera is a category for itself, even though it has great hardware it literally does worse photos than a 200 dollar Xiaomi because the camera software was made by some unpaid internist (also from the camera comparisons I have seen, it was a same story with mark III and mark IV, so I dont expect any change from mk V). I really dig the Sony phones for hardware, I especially appreciate the fact they are one of the last few companies which puts the selfie camera into very thing bezels and keeps the quality of life features like notification led and SD card slot, but it cannot justify the terrible software.

                              With new tech, sony semi kinda claims that ( light gathering capability)

                              50 MP 1/2.9" > 1/2"
                              50MP 1/2.5" = 1/1.56"
                              50MP 1/2" > 50MP 1/1.28"
                              50MP 1/1.4" = 50MP 1"
                              50MP 1/1.28" > 50MP 1"

                              This is why upcoming 903 is gonna wipe floor with 989. Unless Apple manages to ruin again like 803. Fun part is articles from Phone Arena wondering with new hardware things are gonna change, when all issues with cameras are because apple wants photos to be that way ( yellowish skins, excess of sharpening, too bright foreground).

                              Sony has increase mobile sensor share from 44 to 51%. Samsung and Omnivision are in really trouble. No choice but license another tech from sony.

                              Phones now can be thinner, if a 1/2.5" can really match regular 1/1.56" . I imagine many brands are gonna reduce size of cameras.

                                  Survey was done by Sony and many prefer side fingerprint side fingerprint cum power sensor instead of under display fingerprint sensor. SO there you have it . Not just because of one or two of you make comments and they will change it. Sony is not that stupid. And now you guys know why they do not want to make foldable phones. Because the technology simply is not matured yet. They were the first few companies who invented flexible display. They knew.

A 50MP sensor with 0.7µm pixels could theoretically have a comparable SNR to the one with 1µm using the two-layer transistor tech (So similar to IMX766, which is a type 1/1.56 sensor).
