    But continuity? I'm not sure.

Dimensity 7xx, 8xx, 9xx, 1xxx are already pretty easy to understand.
And then somehow they think that 9000 is perfect name for 1200's successor.
And their naming went crazy since then.

            6 nm?
            No one will buy this

for which of the snapdragon processor can we compare this chip Dimensity 7050

why its same with predecessor d 1080? just capable of 200mp sensor that all? adding the prime core at 2.8ghz will be great 😌

Anonymous, 02 May 2023Name, they want all of their Dimensity chips to have a name... moreThat would simplify things if most of the chipsets get renamed by the end of the year. Hopefully they won't break the continuity after renaming everything :/

And they don't even upgrade the MC4 GPU. Every thing else about this platform is okay for the price point but the GPU is luring people away from 900/920/1080/7050.
It would have been better to make it MC6.

Not only just to rebrand to Dimensity 7050, but the only reason is intended to maintain their support of updating the software of this platform with either minor enhancements. So updates still be supported in such platform that has a same model like the D1080, D920 and D900.

This chipset is the first (in D900) to have a premium features (like HDR10+, DV, 4K30 video recording), similar to the SD 7 series lineup. But not the best, lowering the cost a bit for the smartphone.

Like the Redmi Note 12 Pro, they put the best to fit the chip and the price is preety good.

But as I concerned, it is expected to end until late 2024, maybe up to Android 14 or 15. Security patches is also counted when no time to upgrade to next major release on the same time.

Anonymous, 02 May 2023Apple‘s SoC naming is easier to understand than these renamingsOnly Apples and Qualcomms naming is easy to identify. For Apple, just look at the integer after "A". For Qualcomm SnapDragon, just look at the first integer (8, 7, 6,) and check.

I don't understand Exynos naming. Theres the 1380, 1080 (which is better than 1380), then there's the 2200-

Anonymous, 02 May 2023So what is the difference from 1080?There is no difference. It's literally a renamed 1080. Crazy how Exynos or as some call it, "Exy-nos" 1380 could rival this thing.

Yeah dissapointed - up to now X000 series chips were at least 5/4nm with the old 1000 series chips being 7/6nm

Up-badging this old chip is kindof misleading

Apple‘s SoC naming is easier to understand than these renamings

So the 7050 is just the 1080, the 1080 was just the 920 and the 920 was just the 900

So that's 3 chips over 2 year that are essentially the same. This is why smartphone sales are plummeting. There's no reason to buy a new one if you got yours between 2018 and 2021. There's been no real improvement since then
