MediaTek Dimensity 8050 official with 3GHz prime CPU core

09 May 2023
That's the third name for the same chipset after the Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1300.

How many 5G bands does Dimensity 8050 have?

Cyberchum, 10 May 2023It's not like it. Your analogy is quite absurd. Apologize for the misunderstanding lol.

You can test it with "A1 SD Bench".

In many case, devices that became slow have problems with storage (see it several times on eMMC)

However, I do believe as LPDDR5X continue to be mass-produced, older, less-advanced LPDDR4X will be relegated to lower-end devices. Just like any other tech that has been superseded and the market just can't afford to lose them completely so they relegate them.

rizki1, 09 May 2023Phone processors are now insanely fast at a reasonable pric... moreAnd then the next version of Android (plus app updates) slowly make the fast processor struggle. It's really annoying. My SD632 on my last phone used to be okay but now it struggles with many things, including YT, the Android OS itself, and web browsing sometimes. And my previous SD425 struggles with everything. What a joke for a processor capable of a few billion operations per second, considerably better than the Arduino Due used in my school project that did everything I needed with much headroom to spare.

I also don't see much laptops with ARM chip, even the one from Snapdragon, except Microsoft Surface Pro X/9 and some random ARM Chromebook. So I don't really know if they actually "put better work" or not.

In pure CPU benchmark memory subsystem doesn't really have a major impact; it's the move to N6 process that helps the chip push higher numbers for longer, since there are only two things separating these chips apart; support for LPDDR4X-4266 (up from 3733 on D1000+), and fab process (6nm on D1100/1200 vs 7nm on D1000)

Mediatek try to introduce clearer naming.
But they should be honest and show the 2 names on the page.
                              Dimensity 8050 (previously 1200)

This is still something interessant nowadays (AV1 support like 8 Gen 2! Powerfull enough for nearly everything...)
Love my Dimensity 1200 and my Kompanio 1300T...
But thruth is that both are old designs.

In a few years, as those old stuffs will be replaced, everything should be right...or not

Have they gone made or what like they launch a rebranded chip every week 😐😐

If it's the same chipset as the D1300 and D1200, I don't think anyone who got phones like the Realme GT Neo or OnePlus Nord 2T will feel left out.
