They usually say something like "First time on an iPhone", "best design on an iPhone", "the best iPhone to date", etc. So, they are comparing all the time with themselves.
The other companies (especially Chinese ones) are all the time comparing themselves with Apple. They are wannaby Apple. They mock Apple (the same like you did now in your comment), but in the end they still do like Apple.

Iphones X/Xs/11 pro/... moreYeah, but how many of them are being sold globaly? Not many. How many of those were good? Not many. We were getting 2 or 3 small-ish phones per year. So that number of phones between 2019 and 2023 is far from realistic numbers.
There is plenty of market for people wanting smaller phones, but I perfecly understand that more people would want a bigger phone with bigger battery because many of those buyers don't even use the desktop PC or laptop. They are doing everything on a phone which is beyond me but hey I'm not judging.

Just another day on this site it seems, An Apple related rumour surfaces and the talking heads go crazy acting like it’s a confirmed fact, and crying over who copied who.
As with all rumours, I’ll believe it when I see it. If it turns out to be true I’ll sit back watch the tantrums fly over Apple using (of all things) a screen aspect ratio that another electronics company has previously used 🤦♂️

Back in 2003, I was using a Sony-Ericsson P800, with touchscreen and the like. Four years later, I was shocked to assist at the iPhone (1) launch, where Steve Jobs literally said it was the first touchscreen phone in the world. While the first iPhone had its merits, the way they launched it is rather typical. In two years' time, you'll witness a statement saying that they will have discovered the perfect ratio between height and width; that ratio will be 21:9 and, most likely, they will come up with a name for it. The iHeight or the iWidth or the iRatio or, check this out, the iDimensionality.
This is actually quite fun.
