Xperiafan5, 24 May 20232 years of OS updates + a year of security updates =? Where does it say another year of security? Hint: It doesn't. Even if it is three years, that is still shite for a £1200 phone. Samsung and Google do 5, even Xiaomi now do 4.
"We aim to support Xperia with the latest Android updates for two years after its launch and we expect to have Android OS updates more than once during that period."

It is not clear wether the Xperia Pro 1 will be released this year. Other news: what sensors it will have is unknown.
Great article.

Ewki , 17 May 2023More expensive?? . It's already overpriced like hell, ... moreYou know that just changing SoC you need new motherboard right?
Larger space used by cam system need to rework the internals to fit.
You do not make product with zero R&D.

Akashi Seijuro, 16 May 2023Of all things that could be criticized on this phone, all t... moreWoah calm down Takeshi...
I'll agree with others that Sony's naming convention is stupid. People are also stupid so you need easy names which is why other models are: OnePlus 10, OnePlus 10 Pro and Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Ultra. It's pretty obvious where each phone falls.
Sony on the other hand? Well they have Xperia XZ. What? Then XZP? You can guess the "P" is for pro or premium but wtf is XZ? Then there's the Xperia 1, Xperia 1 II? Wtf kind of phone is the Xperia 1 or the XZ though? I can't tell just from the name. It's dumb. What about the Xperia Pro. Is that better than the Xperia 1? What about the XZ or XZP? Oh and then there's the Xperia 5, Xperia 5 IV, etc. Well what kind of phone is the Xperia 5? Is it better than the Xperia 1? Well it can't be because the Xperia 1 is more expensive! Why is that? But wait, there's still more! There's the Xperia Pro and it's like €1000 more than any of the others! But there's also the Xperia Pro-i and you'd think THAT'S got to be the best one. But it's not! It's €1000 less than the Xperia Pro.
Their naming system is quite frankly the most idiotic thing ever. If it isn't an inside joke by Sony staff, then it's just stupid. The only good thing about it is that everyone who buys a Sony phone does their research because you can't tell what you get from the name...

Well, well, well. I hope the all Exmor T sensor is true. The Xperia 1V uses the same as previous 1 IV sensors. So it's not on par. Wonder if they'll stick a new telephoto or will they use a 3x. I can't wait.

Most pro users caring about cameras choose phone as alternative to cameras, not as add-on, although there are such.
Maybe it will be more exciting than 1V with cameras, but surely will have more "exciting" price.
Still, seems hard for sony to produce mobile phone as camera competitor, feels always more like getting performance close to one, no expectations to go beyond in performance.
