IQ200, 10 Jun 2023A52s is a product of chip shortage and it would be better i... moreSorry to break this to you, but even in 2021, headphone jacks weren't common on upper-tier midrange phones.
Its main competitors at the time, the Huawei Nova 9 and the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE (which is also the product of a chip shortage, by the way) didn't have headphone jacks.
And the reason why the A52s was praised so much was because it brought VALUE FOR MONEY in the A series lineup for the first time since the A50. It finally had a proper chipset for the price, it had a 120Hz AMOLED that still keeps up with 2023 phones, it had solid cameras and was one of the last Samsung phones that included a charger in the box, all for a very reasonable price when compared to its spec to spec competitors.
The reason why the A54 is now recieving hate and why the A53 did a year before was because they were the exact opposite of value for money. Massively underpowered CPU's for the price (it was even more extreme on the A53), barely any upgrades to the screen and the cameras, an empty box with no charger included, no headphone jack etcetera all at a price that was way above what spec to spec competitors from other companies were priced at.

Anders, 18 May 2023People who already have a phone that covers all their needs... moreA52s is a product of chip shortage and it would be better if you don't include it like a standard model because it wasn't.
Samsung needed a 5G chipset back then for their mid range A5x series models and SD 750G (and SD 690) was pretty unavailable at that moment. That's why Samsung put much stronger SD 778G in their already 6 months "old" and well selling phone and made it so affordable because they didn't have to develope a brand new phone, they just put a different SoC. A52 5G and A52s 5G are the same with only difference in SoC.
People still praising A52s because of the feature it had, like a 3.5mm jack or SD card, but that was a common feature on every phone, not like today where just low tier has it.
A52s was mostly popular because of the SoC it had. It was a premium midrange chipset back then, selling under price because there wasn't any good alternatives for a chipset with 5G in midrange offerings. And that year was crucial for global adoption of 5G because it was for the first time offered in midrange category of phones. 2021 was a year like no other years in mobile world, but people still think A52s is their regular model and that's why most of people have been disapointed with A53 performance.

HTC legend was my first phone. After that I never turned to another brand, One X, HTC M7, M8, U11. I never had problem with those except U11, that also got fixed in service center. Unfortunately no HTC now sold in India.

Criticism, 20 May 2023Why should any sane company install a 1 year old snapdragon... moreits pretty common for less profitable companies to use little older cpu/gpu because they get a huge discount and its not like most consumers willing to pay over 1k for a current htc but more as a mid range phone for carriers to bundle contracts with. and thats still a very capable soc

I had bought an HTC pro 10 desire 04 years back.
From the 2nd year booting problem started.
While using phone it exits. From that day I was trying to get this repaired. This phone has no service center, support and as result I suffered a heavy loss by purchasing this phone. So donot buy. Imagine the situation, if any user, while uses the phone, if the phone automatically exits and restart multiple times.

Why should any sane company install a 1 year old snapdragon on a new smartphone that have all advanced specs except that🤯🤯🤯 and also selling it for almost $600 WTF were u thinking HTC!!???
With that it doesn't worth more than $200-300!!!
Why not complete it with Snap 8 gen🙄🤔🤔

kevriveroc, 19 May 2023I mean generic from the specs, not generic from the looks. ... moreIt's price against the specification. They're testing the market. A very wise marketing move.

MicroSD is a nice touch.
3.5mm jack? Can I get my hopes high, can it actually match LG G8x/ V40/older flagships in music quality?
I clearly remember, the older HTC flagships aimed heavily at music experience.
HTC One M8 is a good example that comes to mind. I so hope this is true.

How it's pro when it's has mid range chipset in it. HTC can't make people fool. Now it's the world of Apple, Samsun, MI and oppo.
Gone are the days for LG, Sony, Nokia and HTC

Anonymous, 19 May 2023Funny when 7g1 was announced May/22 , when 8+g1 is also fro... more7 gen 1 is barely faster but much more power hungry than 778G. Dimensity 1200/1300 is much better chip in every way. Snapdragon 7 gen 1 is a flop.

Hang on wtf? HTC is back making phones? Since when? U23? Lmao taking a dump on Samsung's 23U 😂😂😂😂 just like the good old days.
This beast is also only €500? Welcome back HTC!
My old U11 Plus was an absolute beast, the ultrapixel camera was revolutionary. Camera absolutely destroyed all the competition back then and the U11 Plus was gorgeous. Was the first phone which could actually take low light photos.
Damn here's hoping HTC makes the world's biggest comeback. UI was always clean as heck. HTC never had bloatware and you always got 3.5mm headphones and a fast charger with the phone. We need some competition and HTC was one hell of a competitor once. So was LG.
I'm up for a new work phone in June and well HTC here you go man. 3.5mm, SD card slot? 108MP camera. I'll take it. Sounds like a great work phone. Will keep my flagship for personal use.
LET'S GO BABY!

Nothing wrong with this phone, just a good solid phone that does what you want from a phone. Generic design sure, it's not HTC from what it was years back with some amazing looking phones. Not sure what is HTC's update policy nowadays.

Anonymous, 19 May 20237 gen 1 is not only old, but it's also made by Samsung... moreFunny when 7g1 was announced May/22 , when 8+g1 is also from mid 2022.
Same ppl love to see those mediatek dimensity that are all equal (quad 78 + quad 55) just with different frequencies.
At least 7g1 has arm v9.

Anonymous, 18 May 2023Still the king anyway. Nobody gives 4 android updates.Doesn't mean anything if phone parts cannot be interchanged due to some silly drm that people like you whole heartedly accept.
Oh, they could update more if they put their heart into it. Galaxy Note 3 runs a cfw of Android 11 that was put together by a commoner.
But of course, that won't make them monies. 🤣
