I think they are going to ban if in Montenegro and Serbia as well, but I am not 100% sure

While majority of the content on TikTok is bs, the video editing capabilities of this app are far superior to those of ig and YouTube. Though the problem here is the said statement citing security issues, which is not very much the case. US only bans those things which pose 'security issue' to their own competence (ehm, Huawei, among others), but they would never think twice to acquire something that poses the same threats elsewhere (ehm, Nvidia-Arm acquisition, put to rest for good). It's about time the world understands the US' "insecurity" and let them do things on their own - The BRICS+ currency is a sorcery of their own doings and the first step to the USD's demise. Oh well, what'd you expect after mindless sanctions and terrorizing tactics? A boost in trade?

            Nice.

Sometimes Americans make good decisions for themselves. Hope they ban assault rifles country wide too

And Tim Cook was scolded by US officials after his Beijing visit.

              A bunch of losers.

NBMSCH, 18 May 2023I hope this filthy platform will be banned world wide.I hope so too. Though I know it's a guilty pleasure for lots of people, but not me.

I respect people's tastes, but I cannot understand the appeal of tiktok. It's just not my thing, and even if it was, the platform is designed to promote social media addiction which is bad.

Also apparently many people make a living off of tiktok. If it gets banned, well, sucks for them I guess.

But I feel like even if tiktok is banned, people will just create another similar platform. The young people of today just desperately craves for distraction from their lives.

Lol, time to move to Montana then. Finally a place where I don't have to see annoying teens blast out loud their tiktok, and where everybody's mind is less dependant on the addictive drug that is tiktok.

Anonymous, 19 May 2023USA loves to do this when their superiority is threatened. ... moreThey love using the excuse of "national security" to suppress competitors with more advanced/successful products. First Huawei, now TikTok. It's just a method to move peoples' attention away from the real problems in the US such as mass shooting and drug abuse.

well, tiktok in our country is widely used for misinformation and disinformation most specially during the election... tiktok should be responsible for that as well as there's no filter or validation to all posted content. It's business as usual aside from a cloudy data protection privacy we're all seem to take for granted.

Sore losers resort to sanctions if they cannot compete.

ae86, 18 May 2023girl why are you comparing TikTok to onlyfans 😭 One is a dancing app, another one is a platform to earn money by selling explicit contents yet people only see the problems on the first one. Not saying both should be banned but... 🤷

At least we finally have a clear as day mask off move. A ban to be accepted (along the US states), what is often needed is that one state makes the first move. Then the rest copy...

The order came from far above than those witless Montana legislators (also why tik tok in particular, why not ban a far less popular app instead, one that does not eating on good 'Ole US profits. Is the only "spying" app the only one that actually does well and the rest are all magically OK?.

Protectionism sucks, makes the whole world poorer. The Americans could not compete with TikTok so they banned it. I honestly to God hope that the rest of the world does not follow suit. They can build a better app, then they should try, compete, not ban it.

Those are trends they come and go. First it was Facebook, then Instagram, now Tiktok. You want the next o be American, do something easier to use, advance the tools that people have. Don't ban it!

Many people don’t seem to see the magic of TikTok. The key is in the software, the video capture and editing tools. This is why TikTok is so popular with content creators. The video editing on the app is so easy, and you can do many fancy editing, effects and AI magic so easily within the app. Instagram and YouTube capabilities are like preschool toys compared to TikTok. This is why even on instagram and YouTube, you see creators with TikTok created videos.

So once you make it so easy for creators, come the users. Meanwhile, instagram and YouTube keep being hostile towards creators, with archaic tools and hostile policy. It’s no wonder TikTok is taking over.

Nowadays the US is out Communist'ing the so-called Communist countries. Keep up the good work US while preaching to others about an ideology you don't actually follow.
