Reduce the price yes but stating that 8+ Gen 1 was chosen because "it’s best-in-class when it comes to power consumption and heat management is wrong altogether because the Gen2 manages to be somewhat on par with Apple iPhone battery life among Android after losing for a many couple of years.

Super Android 22, 19 May 2023I think it is a good plan using the 8g1+ if it keeps the ph... moreI know it has a worse ISP and modem. The ISP of 7+ gen 2 can still do 4k60, which is all you need in that price range (8+ gen 1 can do 8k 30, there is no way any phone less than 800€ will have 8k). Modem difference is minimal if you can even notice it. GPU is just with some clusters deactivated, and on a phone it isnt as important as on a laptop. Neither can do AV1 decode.

Of course we want the best chip. But if 7+ gen 2 means it is 400€ rather 600€ with 8+, then I'll take the 7.

Carl Pei didn't say the price won't increase from 399€, and knowing how much SD 8 costs, it is unlikely to cost that low. Which is why I would rather have a slightly less powerful chip and keep the price the same. Yet another flagship is not what the market needs.

                    absolute jokes..why cant they compete?

7+ Gen 2 (which is at par with 8+ Gen 1) is based on TSMC's 4nm process. I don't remember any of the Qualcomm's new release that's based on Samsung

If the sd7 is made at Samsung, I can see their point. If sd7 is also made with tsmc, I don't buy the power efficiency claim. Lower clocks on a mature node usually result in better battery.

It's a conscious decision to make the phone accessible. It's your post that's funny, and it's not in a good way.

Just checked Carl's thread, it's funny to see that Carl MOSTLY only compares the advantages of 8+ Gen 1 compared to 778G on Phone (1) instead of comparing it with another brand, like what Apple always did with their chipset upgrades (example: when Apple compared M1/M2 chip to i5/i7 chip that used on 2019 MacBook). I'm not saying that 8+ Gen 1 is a bad chipset, considering 8+ Gen 1 is still one of the most powerful chipsets on the market, it's just funny in my opinion that Carl "copy" Apple in terms of how their products compare.
