Carl Pei confirms Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC

Pei also revealed the rationale behind opting for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip.

No AV1 decoding then. The phone is obsolete already.

    "The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is an old chip, and going with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 would've increased the phone's price."

    I was about to say that. That is a valid point. Nothing can put Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and UFS 4.0 on the Phone (2), but don't expect it to be cheap. Also, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and UFS 3.1 is still powerful, if not overkill to most average consumers.
