Pei also revealed the rationale behind opting for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip.

Wonder how much Phone 2 will cost. The gains in 8 Gen 2 are not insignificant though, so a bit disappointed tbh. I guess it comes down to how much they're gonna price this device.

    So, not bad

I'm hurt by the statement "the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is an old chip." It's as if such a statement is trying to imply that my trusty Snapdragon 865 device is an ancient technology.

Even the Snapdragon 778G+ 5G is fast enough for me.... Can't wait for 8+ Gen 1!

Looking forward to this phone. Hope it launches soon.

thedeev1, 19 May 2023Funny cuz it seems only Mediatek is including this feature.Even exynos 2100 have this

No HW AV1 decoding support, Carl Pei.

You're releasing a device which is deprecated from the get go.

As for the increased price, don't BS me, ZTE Nubia Z50 costs $400.

Not very powerful but enough for everyday usage unless you are a gamer. Even 7 series are already good enough. 8 series are very powerful and most people don't even need that much power.

Oh boy, here come all the comments complaining that the new phone won't have x feature which is going to be a deal breaker for them as if nothing is the only phone company in the world

                                Good decsn considering price

Compared to the chipset I'm more curious about whether it's still going to have the same build problems that Phone (1) had, like green screen and LED lights falling off.

Heck, even Snapdragon 865 will be powerful enough for 99% of tasks even 5 years from now on. People just like to nitpick over nothing, but it comes down to the price of course.
