Anonymous, 19 May 2023The reviews speak for themselves. 8+ gen 1 phones run for 2... moreI can bet that if they would have done that people would complain that they don't use a 8 series chip

ALEX HUS, 19 May 2023That statement is garbage, watch geekerwan video & you&... moreThe reviews speak for themselves. 8+ gen 1 phones run for 20% longer in battery life than 8 gen 1 phones doing the exact same thing. It throttles less when under sustained load.
Nothing could go with the 7+ gen 2 though. It is just an 8+ gen 1 underclocked. It is much more premium than previous 7 series chips. I would do the switch if it can save money.

Looking at how Apple is dominating TSMC's orders, it could be that other OEMs like Nothing had no choice other than to pick an older SoCs. Maybe Qualcomm cannot even have enough slots to fab the 8gen2.

"Pei also said that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 was chosen because "it’s best-in-class when it comes to power consumption and heat management."
This must be a joke... The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was one of the worst Snapdragon generations with regards to thermals and power-efficiency.
The "plus"-Version didn't change any microarchtecture but just changed the manufacturer from Samsung to TSMC. The TSMC process was slightly better than Samsungs, but the difference was nothing (pun intended) to write home about.
The SD 8 Gen 1+ is no contender for the 8 Gen 2, so what they are doing here is to just save money by acquiring stocks of previous-gen SoC that nobody wants to have anymore.

Anonymous, 19 May 2023Difference would be much less than ppl think. Somehow man... moreYeah, the difference wouldn't be that much that they could just retain the original price while using the newer chipset.
