It's bad news. This means Sony will now do like everyone else such as removing headphone jack and microSD card. Hopefully they release Xperia 5v soon which could be the last flagship phone many buy.

That source definitely got me the whole "trust me bro" vibe

Stoon, 22 May 2023how much it will cost ??? 2800 bucks ??? 😂The Xperia Pro(2020) was already $2500 when it was launched.
This one will be more than $3000.

Anonymous, 22 May 2023Still way better than having notch and punch holes. It'... moredid you know there is setting where you can hide the notch?

Anonymous, 22 May 2023OMG please stop with the bezel whining. Xperias have tiny ... moreI respect your opinion liking sony display with no notch but i still prefer phone with notch over large top and bottom bezel from sony. By the way there is settings where you can hide the notch(depending on the phone brands)..

Still can't see the point of foldable flip. Even if Sony made one, I'm not buying it, and I'm saying that as a current Xperia 1 iv owner.

I'd rather see a real compact phone (classical slab style) but I guess that wouldn't get as many eyes.

I call BS. There's no way they could make a folding phone with no camera bump when the industry has been getting worse with this issue as camera sensors and lenses get larger. And if this is real, then the camera performance is going to be a major step backwards from the advancements Sony phones have been making lately. And that's not even saying anything about the price (my bet is $1999USD, plus free foam earplugs worth 1 cent each).

I bet most people will ignore this will never look like this.

Picture is just a concept/prototype at best.

ok Sony..., let's begin the wild era

It will be certainly about 3000 euros.
Because it is a Sony, yayyy

                                  No bezels = no buy

I never understood why Sony has never released more gaming phones to compete with ZTE, Asus, and Xiaomi? The gaming phone segment is there for the taking if Sony wants it. Sony can dominate Steam Deck and ROG Ally if they ever released a handheld with similar specs.

Look at Microsoft. They don't seem to care anymore about selling gaming hardware. PS5 is dominating them but Microsoft thinks the future of gaming is in the cloud. The ROG Ally is a $600-$700 portable Xbox X/S Series to sell you Game Pass and to get you to still use Windows. Sony needs to offer us gaming phones to sell us PS Now.

My favorite dedicated gaming device ever still remains my modded PS Vita. It doesn't feel outdated using the LiveArea UI. If I use an iPhone or Android smartphone from that same era circa 2011-2013, it will feel slow and dated. Even the 3DS and Switch UI are inferior to the Vita's. Sony makes really good stuff that never feels dated.

                                    Sony needs to give us...
                                    Xperia Play successor
                                    PS Vita successor
XZ1 Compact successor (XZ2C was too big and thick)
                                    Foldable clamshell

Sony has been wasting most of their time selling us tall, $1800 bland-looking, cameraphones that overheat like crazy. Sony wasted so many years already ignoring the gaming, compact, and foldable market in the mobile industry.

Honestly, Sony could just release an Ace Pro globally with only a thicker top bezel as that would make reaching the top of the screen with your thumb easier. This "compact" foldable is even more counterintuitive than the 5 series imo

Sony is barely selling outside of Japan.
Foldables bvarely selling anywhere because of a zero scratch resistance and durability main screen, tiny batteries, lack of proper specs and a crappy design.
This going to be same garbage as any other fold or flip.
I really wondert why Sony is joining something which aint popular among people because durability of foldables and flipables is much worse than awfully bad.
