Revenue of sales ... moreSony is at the bottom of the phone industry, even if they just sell 1000 more phones than last year that's considered a good Sale. Samsung, Apple or Xiaomi can sell more phones in 1 month than Sony in 1 year.
To keep the story short, if you are at the bottom, it's very easy to go up but still be at the bottom.
PS: Sony Mobile Market share is literally 1% in the world.

Where is the "I want a phone with 3.5mm jack+card slot combo with flagship specs but now that there is one available, I will cry and complain about the price instead of looking for ways to increase my cashflow" option?

This site should enable a mandatory function to show user's actual device model, it would be insanely fun. Of course you can use a browser or PC or even change the hardware ID, but hey it would be even funnier.

Anonymous, 29 May 2023Green and silver out of stock in China. Revenue of sales ... moreYou are comparing something categorized as "others" with major brands and claiming that Sony's getting stable revenue. Of course, you can call continuously low market share and revenue( at least compared with other brands) "stable".

Actually, I would suggest that there's only 2 new features - new main camera sensor and stereo speakers. As for the 6.1" screen - the external dimensions of the phone are the same as the 10 IV and the bezels look the same, the actual screen diagonal is probably marginally bigger than 6" and was previously rounded down, this year they've rounded up.
If anyone has physical access to the iv and v then they could accurately measure the height and width of both, perhaps with a micrometer.

But lenses would need... moreI bet most flagships won't have any problem resolving 24-30MP worth of details with their current lens design for their main cameras - Hell, look at how corner-to-corner sharp Mi 11's photos were back in 2020.
But of course, you would never waver from your stubborn belief that "smartphone lenses do not resolve more than 8MP".

I got the IV, and I'm still disappointed by the battery life.
Another aspect is by the time the Mark 5 actually makes it to market, SD Gen 2+ will be released, with battery life improvements and everything else...
Buying this in August-September (because it will NOT be available in July, that's for sure), leaves a bad taste, considering SDGen2+ will be out by then...
Also, way too early for me personally to change my device.

1v tops my list...
like, it is my only choice, haha...
will upgrade from 1ii...
sadly it wont have notification led like my 1ii...
but, there is no turning back as it has audio jack for headphones and external mic...
and i can hotswap an sdcard to switch easier...
as for 10v, i do not think so...
but, if it matches the 10iv price range (300usd), it would be easy for me to recommend it, 10iv just lack stereo front firing speakers and i cannot go to any other setup, as my older z2 already has such speaker setup...
...
sony taiwan and hk have good bundle for these phones, sadly the store where i usually import phones do not ship those with the phone (the best bundle they included was a brick and cable)...

Anders, 29 May 2023Sony Xperia 1 V; too expensive, no charger in box and poor ... moreTotally doubt about poor sustained performance. I did a test of continuous 4K 120fps video with my 1 IV, and it actually manage to record an impressive 25 minutes becfore a warning about hot battery showing up.

I am interested with the 1 V, but I'm still happy with my current 1 IV. Maybe I'll upgrade when Sony launch the 1 VI next year.

Anonymous, 28 May 2023Qualcomm should have named 695 as 495. It clearly replace... moreA proper midranger should be balanced in performance and endurance. 10 V keeps the same old screen with 60Hz refresh rate, surely Sony could've put 6 gen 1 in this phone without losing more than 1/4 of SD 695 battery endurance. If chipset availability is the issue, then this is where SD 778+ would've been a welcome upgrade (even though people have gotten sick of that chipset, basically).

I get that we are over SD 778/+ by now but the 10 V having it would've been the exception

Sony Xperia 1 V; too expensive, no charger in box and poor sustained performance at only 45% whereas the Moto Edge 40 Pro had 80% sustained using the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC.
Having a headphone jack and microSD doesn't make up for those issues
