Is like when you buy a car, is not only about the engine.
Specs on paper matter to Chinese brands, because it was the only way they could attract people in buying their phones.
And no, not all iPhone users are buying iPhones to brag. Many iPhone users I know have 2-3 years old models, that are working exactly like in day 1 (with batteries health above 88%). The people who buy new iPhone each year, have usually lots of money to spare. And in many cases have a second flagship Android phone.

I remember buying my 6S plus for around 780 or 800 bucks and that was one of the best phones back then. We let them do this by paying whatever they ask. kinda show that I can pay.
