Better put these socs on tablets/laptop instead that aren't constraint with compactness. It's no suprise there hasn't been any phones socs more than 8 cores besides mediatek X20 series that had 10 cores.

      Waiting for only Efficient cores like cortex-A520 with N4P process for only budget smartphone.

        2xX4 core + 8xA720 is more make sense
        Or perhaps 2xX4 + 6xA720 + 2xA520
        Mediatek just don't write the 520

          No smartphone can run 4 Corex-X4.
          Smartphone brands are having so much difficulty in maintaining cool with just one X-Core.
          Now imagine what 4 of these cores would do to smartphone.
          Now comes of the cost that it would be outrageously expensive chip.Current SoC are costing around $150,such design can easily cross $300 price tag for SoC alone.
          Also A700 series cores are not good for low power/Idle work.
          If such design really exist then its CPU is designed for Laptops.otherwise this leak is totally wrong.

            Disaster for a phone battery. If used for laptop, maybe it will work but its not good for phone.

                  I don't think this is true. Four X4 processors alone is going to be so expensive of a chip that people won't like the price tag. And even in a lower state, those A720s will eat up a lot of power compared to the A520s. If such a chip is really in the works, it's most likely going to be in a Gaming phone or a gaming handheld of sorts.

                    Most sold phones on Earth now are 14 pro max and 14 pro.

                      On the flip side, I really hope they'll make a new budget chipset that uses these new cores instead of rebranding and overclocking/underclocking older ones. It's finally time to get rid of the SD 680/695, Helio and Dimensity 900-7050 family

                        a 2 4 2 or 4 2 2 configuration is more ideal imo for a better "phone" experience, this chip seems to be targeted for just gaming phones with nothing else in mind.

                          This is stupid for a phone. It leaves out why big.LITTLE is a thing in the first place. If this ever arrives in a phone, expect overheating and atrocious battery life.

                          However, this could be great in a laptop, although with all of the bloated background tasks these days they should also include some A520 cores into the mix as well.
