Android 14 could bring battery health feature to phones and tablets

In the meantime, you can download an app called Batt that does something similar.

Yes they hasnt been forced to swap battery or phone but somewhere deep within your brain will always tells you that you needs new battery.
Just like for example 5D 9H screen protector. Some people does not care when is completely scratched from up down and still will feel it can hold something more and some goes crazy their phone can breaks because there is tiny bubble barely visible by naked eye.
So noone pushing you but some voice deep within you negotiates you.
All depends on user personality, behavior and what kind of human he she is.

Does anyone here know an Android app which can cap battery charging to 90%? If you know then please tell us.
    Thanks in advance.

Anonymous, 04 Jun 2023Hardware limitations? I just put a CFW version of Android 1... moreWell my opinion.
I personally don't like to upgrade my mobile within very short interval.
That means i'm forced to upgrade to a new one as older devices becomes useless in coming future.

Now on mobile battery my opinion.
I saw batteries are labled like this -
                        1000 mah = 3.8 watt hour.
                        2000 mah = 7.6 watt hour.
                        3000 mah = 11.4 watt hour.
                        4000 mah = 15.3 watt hour.
                        5000 mah = 19.16 watt hour.
                        6000 mah = 22.9 watt hour.
                        7000 mah = 26.8 watt hour.

All inputs mentioned above are approximate, but can be found on every mobile battery package both on new and inside device battery.
I'm not engineer but i'm a tech lover.

So, now do some basic math.
Let's suppose someone have a 4000 mah/15.3 watt hour battery and got 6 hour screen on time.
That means that person used 15.3 watt hour ÷ 6 hour = 2.5 watt hour of energy per hour.

The latest snapdragon processor till this year has a TDP of 8 watt hour.
That means with just full TDP of latest snapdragon processor a particular 4000 mah device will last less than 2 hour.
There are other components in every mobile and they use different watt hour of energy.
Finding those informations are tough and sharing them on forums are useless as general public don't have the need to know all those but they can if they use their brain.

I hope i'm not wrong with my opinion.
You can research and verify on your own.
If i am wrong then mention in why i'm wrong.
Thank you for reading my long comment.

I just put a CFW version of Android 11 on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 last month. Stuck at android 5 with a bright white them (oled burn inducing), it won't run Youtube unless you clear data everytime.

Now with android 11, I get to install the incompatible split apks of Youtube Revanced, Android incompatible apps like Brave Browser etc, sytem white dark theme, extreme power saving, Performance Profile (Power save, Efficiency, Balanced, Quick, Performance), changing led notif color, screen RGB settings, Private DNS (android 9+ only), Text2Speech feature etc.

Please explain why they need a new hardware to run these? What limitations are you talking about?

And for those unfortunate brands without battery charge limiter Accubattery does the job. This is the spirit of Android, third party solutions exist. Why limit them to what can be provided by companies looking to sell the next shiny stuff every year?

Android needs to introduce a battery feature to cap maximum charging to 90%. It will greatly increase battery lifespan.

Fast charging have zero impact on battery but heat does.
If for example your phone will charge overnight with 5V/1A charger and the temperature will be at 50 ceklsius whole time battery gets more damage than if you use lets say 300W charger which tops up battery in like 5-10 minutes and battery wont have time to heat up enough. And at 100% you will plug off your device.

So your statement is wrong, incorrect and full of lies.
It have nothing to do with fast chargng only issue is heat and as long as it stays in charger and does not reach your battery in other words temperature wont go over 40-50 celsius even a 1 million charging speed can be assumed safe.

Novdays its nothing new that 5-10 years old kids knows about the phones or tablets much more than elders and out grandparents.
Like i said in the end this so called great feature makes more E-Waste because will force people go crazy when their battery drops from 100% to 99%.
Because after lets say half year at 99% battery will drop to 95 or 90 within next half year.

Anonymous, 04 Jun 2023And they had to lock it behind a major OS revision when thi... moreAnd this is why it matters if company offers major OS updates for many years, so you don't get left out for this. I don't know why you mention Apple who literally still has the longest software support of all vendors, giving old iPhones updates for 5+ years. Even if they "lock" new OS features behind major version, you'll get it anyway. With few rare exceptions where features are limited to newer models only because of certain hardware limitations.

Also it matters how much of basic new Android functionality ends up in new version. Xiaomi is notorious for lagging behind, just look how long they were implementing Android 12 new privacy settings. And I still don't know if they implemented all of them in their latest MIUI builds.

On top of the fact that some phone makers offer battery charge limiting by themselves for years. ASUS had it for very long and so did Samsung, hell, Samsung even gave it to basically all phones down to most basic Galaxy A models. When battery already lasts forever and you want to keep it as healthy as possible, limiting charge is preferred. And it does work. I manually charged iPhone XR to 80% only and after 4 years, I haven't even noticed any degradation, it was lasting just the same as in the beginning. Now with Galaxy S23 Ultra, it lasts even longer because the battery is huge and 85% charge lasts me 2 full days and I hang on social media quite a lot. And it's a hard lock to 85%, I don't even have to use notifier to warn me, it'll just stop at 85%. If I need, I can just turn it off and it'll charge to 100% if I need more for that particular day. IIt's awesome to have feature.
