Android 14 could bring battery health feature to phones and tablets

03 June 2023
In the meantime, you can download an app called Batt that does something similar.

Literally all Android makers implemented this one way or another, and now Google wants to come making noise as if this was something new and revolutionary lmao

Tritrix, 03 Jun 2023My Pixel 7 has very adaptive charging. It's set up ... moreSomething else sony has since xz1 and other copy.

The other person is talking about HS,the ability to use power from cable same way those old laptops with removable battery could.

Anonymous, 03 Jun 2023It is hardware level. My Pixel 7 has very adaptive charging.

It's set up so that it's fully charged by the time I set my alarm in the morning.

I plug it in before going to bed around 20/30%, the phone charges up to 80% in slow charge then stops. It resumes about 1 hour before my alarm to go up to 100% then stops again

Ipad does not have this function

At last! Battery health stats like from within iPhones' settings. Now, we will know what charging cycles & battery capacity is left in our Android smartphone battery. You know what, i've also like to add a helpful feature of automatic turn-off of charging, once the battery hits 100% because we all know how the battery wears-off & degrade from overcharging, and the battery won't go beyond or exceed 100%, lithium-ion batteries will just deteriorate from overcharging overnight.

st0rmtr00per, 03 Jun 2023Good news and about time. IOS has it for years now. However... more??? I don't know where you live but for me it's very easy to change a battery on an Android phone like a Samsung or a Pixel in my city... And no, the store is not in a dodgy alley 😂

Good news and about time. IOS has it for years now. However it'll still be easier to get a battery changed for iphone users since an apple store is mostly easier found and more reliabe than a shady third party battery replacement shop in the alley.

                    Pointless, needless, useless bloat.
I remember when Apple introduced this "feature" in OSX and instantly flagged thousands of batteries as "failed" stopping them from charging.
Interestingly I was using a near brand new high capacity battery from a reputable Mac specialist in my MacBook Pro - guess what this new feature did.
It's not a consumer friendly process, it's entirely designed to produce fatuous figures that "encourage" you to replace your phone or laptop - that's why Apple did it first!

Finally, something good about Android 14!

The vivo X Note already has that feature on Android 13, Origin OS 3.

Well on one hand this is very interesting feature.
On the other it will force people to swap their batteries more often or force them to buy new device more often because it will shows battery need to be replaced or device cant keep up.
Low cost phones replacement will cost as much as new phones and high end phones are very costly to replace battery so buying a newer phone is usually better solution.
In the end it will create much more E-Waste than its healthy for this planet.

another proven useless feature, why should they bother creating a problem that didn't exist
