It's coming next year for the princely sum of $3,499.

Price is awful and not even as mobile as a quest. No steam no business potential. Utter rubbish.

They made micro-OLED displays with true RGB subpixels (like in Nintendo Switch OLED; not like PenTile in most OLED smartphones), that's really cool. And generally the product is impressive.

But, the visionOS doesn't natively support macOS apps (not that surprising given it has just M2 which is already busy with AR computing); only as adding one (supposedly just one) external "monitor" for a Mac you already own, and supposedly with maximum of 4K resolution, which is better than nothing, but I'm not really sure it will be effective for simultaneously (as separate "windows") using several programs like Xcode, VS Code, Unity, Unreal Editor, etc. So, it seems to be not so perfect for software/game devs. Maybe those using Final Cut Pro / Logic Pro would appreciate it more.
I wonder if it can add that sort of "monitor" for Mac Mini/Studio without a real monitor connected to them; doesn't sound impossible.

so what is it?? is it basically a glorified oculus?? and called it "spatial computer"??

Or the device from what Apple copied and braiding as innovation (lol), holo lens would be in mass production than specific cases.

But can it actually do much more than Quest 3, especially when comparing 3500 vs 500 price difference.

Maybe 2nd gen or 3rd gen OR a non-"Pro" version is when I'll actually try to dip into this, but currently this would be for people who just develops stuff and build up the ecosystem for it and/or people who have burning holes in their pocket.

0odle-noodle, 05 Jun 2023Its a nice headset, but $3,499 is absolutely insane The first iPhone was also very expensive for its first release.
This headset is merely for developers who want to develop for the system and its future.
Apple is reportedly working on AR glasses for the mass market, so that would be an interesting thing to see and buy in the near future.
