Current mobile phones called smart phones I don't consider primary as a phone, because it is a small computer from which, among many other things, you can also make phone calls.

My "device which was designed as portable" ...in terms of storage, 128/256/512GB is pretty good amount of space for hand held small computer. Don't be surprised that the majority of smartphone manufacturers canceled the micro SD card.

Of course you can hold any data as long as you wish(permanent) in smartphone, but the size of internal storage was rather adapted to hold temporary data e.g. GPS maps(countries you are currently traveling to, not whole world) + 4k videos(from your last holliday or recording, not archive of last year) + music(several albums you want to listen in compressed format and not 223GB of music in a lossless format in your case), etc...you know where I am pointing.

PhoneFreak45, 11 Jun 2023And so does the Sim card. Yet the sim card is okay. People ... moreTotally agree with you. Sad that there are always people whom live in a cave.

Anonymous, 10 Jun 2023No. And they are not much less money costing. They have larger cache which is more important than having ones own GPU. The new Mali is as good as Adreno anyway.

For SD cards I can set the camera App to save to SD. This is useful especially for Videos. Since Asus' Mp4 used up like half a GB for jus 1 hour of 720p video. I also can't save Videos and Image directly onto the cloud.

The first 3 gens has many sizes, 4 and 5 mid sizes, while 6, 7 and the Flip model of 8 are big size. Most of the Asian Asus fans fav is 6 and 7 Pro. Not one outside of US and Japan like the smaller models.

Yes it's not fast, but there's a lot you can do with it. It's incredibly versatile. Now then, I must ask, why does putting that power in a small body with a small screen equate to "designed for calls" ? Because phones nowadays can do so much more. The processor's in them have many thousands of times the processing power necessary to make a call or send a text. I don't even feel like having this argument anymore because of how shortsighted your point is. "Designed to be portable storage" yes and who said that I can't use portable storage as permanent storage? Nobody is using a toolshed just for tools on the premise that that's not what it was designed for. Nobody is using a gaming PC just for gaming on the premise that that's not what it's designed for. Personally, I don't have a computer, as I'm on the go too much to get 1000$ of use out of a PC, I'd rather spend that money on a pocket computer which you daringly say was just designed to make calls. Once again, the capacity of the internal storage doesn't matter, because it's expensive to upgrade. Double the price of the phone, versus double the price to buy a nice charger, powerbanks, and cables for said phone. That seems like a no brainer. In what world does the storage being portable mean it can't be used for permanent storage.

Smaller Bezels? Disagree - hence why the Z9 had a smaller screen but the same physical dims as the below mentioned... lost screen "real estate".

It personally doesn't matter to me if a phone has Z9 sized bezels, or if they're akin to an S22/iPhone 14. What annoys me is how they market the product.

I would understand you concerns about ability to increase internal phone storage if the phones don't have the ability transfer data to other storage or device.

That OTG usb key is better solution in terms of phone concept and in case you take a lot of photo/video at once and you can't immediately flush that data to PC/notebook or upload somewhere. You do not need to plug it in during taking photos, use internal storage which is pretty large these days even for raws or 4k video and connect usb key after internal storage is full.

You are simply trying to hold large amount of data which you don't need at once in device which was designed as portable and not as a library or archive. And we know that phones were originaly designed to make a call, not entertainment :) .
