If I didn't care about cost, maybe then I could agree with you up to 1TB. However, I'm not paying double the price for a phone with 1TB fast UFS storage when I could pay just 170$ CAD extra and have an EXTRA TB. Sims being a relic from the past is silly considering the phone you use, unless it's an iPhone 14 in the US, has a sim card slot. Until E-sims are easy and painless to swap, that argument really doesn't work.

PhoneFreak45, 11 Jun 2023And so does the Sim card. Yet the sim card is okay. People ... moreDo you think people are often switching SIM cards? SIM card is a relic from the past and will be soon or later replaced with eSIM in all phones. It is "waste" of space just for holding number and few contacts.
If phone internal storage capacity would not rapidly increased in the last years, then keeping microSD cards would make sense.
Nowdays smartphones are well feature ballanced. If you need some extra feature like extra space for holding data, it is better use external drive(or USB OTG key) or more often transfer data to lapton/PC. If nothing helps you maybe is time to change your workflow.

But wait, after eSIM will be widely spreaded, maybe manufacturers will keep the SIM bay for microSD cards ;-)

Anonymous, 10 Jun 2023I don’t even know any 5.8 inch flagships apart from the iPh... moreAnd those aren't even modern flagships. The iPhone X isn't getting updated to iOS17, the XS is likely a year away from that fate, and even the 11 Pro is almost 4 years old at this point. The XS and 11 Pro are perfectly serviceable being iPhones, but I wouldn't really call them flagships any longer, since Apple doesn't sell either.

I would've been sold if they had done something new with the design of the phone (based on those teasers). At least slimmer bezels would've been nice.

It's going to be the same physical size as the base s23.. The screen just doesn't reach the edge of the phone like the s23 does. But still, I'm glad. I can't stand the massive ultra type phones like a brick in your pocket.

Anonymous, 11 Jun 2023The size of the card needs dedicated space on the board whi... moreAlso another point, in many phones such as my phone of choice, the SIM card/MicroSD card reader is modular, meaning it takes up quite literally 0 board space because it's actually situated under the motherboard.

Anonymous, 11 Jun 2023The size of the card needs dedicated space on the board whi... moreAnd so does the Sim card. Yet the sim card is okay. People value the ability to easily switch SIMs, hassle free. The extra board space implementing a microSD card reader is negligible, are you really saying we should feel bad for the board designers? How does the Sony Xperia 5 IV, a phone with a 6.1" display and 5000MaH battery, manage to implement these features then? It sounds like you sir are the one who knows nothing about board design. Presumably someone interested in it, would know that there are board designs that have these features in a very small package. By that logic we should be angry at Quallcomm anytime their new chip has a larger die size, lol. You need to respect people's choices. Cloud storage is not for everyone. It's slow, it's ludicrously expensive if you want to be able to access it out of the house like I do, it takes forever to upload anytime you take a video. I'm not paying for the privilege or inconvenience, sorry. Like I've said, but apparently need to reiterate, my microSD card stores 132GB of photos and videos *taken by me*, and 223GB of music in a lossless format, because I prefer that over spotify. Again, personal preference. What you think is better doesn't matter, you're not the only consumer like I seemingly keep having to reiterate on this forum. Like you'd also know if you read any of my previous posts in this thread, my apps and games take up less than 32GB of actual storage on my phone. Your whole argument is ridiculous. You're basically saying that because stereotypes would have you believe mass storage is only useful to people storing a lot of pornography, microSD cards are a feature just for weirdos. That's ridiculous. Which becomes obvious as soon as you look at the people actually using microSD cards. Storing photos and videos, storing audio, storing all manner of things that would be useful to have access to on the go. I don't understand this reactive argument. From what I understand, not only do you believe every consumer is exactly like yourself, you also have misconceptions about what someone could use mass storage for.

Also, something about cloud storage that perfectly illustrates my point:
Today I went to a parade and shot 18.55GB of 4K60 video. Imagine how long that would take to upload over a slow urban broadband connection with a mere 16Mb/s upload speed. Not pleasant. Even if it used all available bandwidth, that would take 2 and a half hours. Hint, it doesn't, and your phone is basically useless during that time because all it's upload bandwidth is being used.

Obviously the idea of board design is something you know nothing about but it is not easy when you have to reroute everything just for an outdated feature so that c00mers to store their p*rn on their phones. 256gb is plenty of storage for everyday use. You aren't using an iPod, Spotify exists, cloud storage for photos exists, and if you play that many mobile games then I would suggest getting a life

If Xperia 5v comes out, it will be better buy even if a bit larger, because:
                      1. MicroSD card
                      2. IP65 rating
                      3. Telephoto lens
                      4. Better image processing
                      5. Probably a better main camera sensor

Out of above, if Asus can at least put microSD and telephoto lens in Zenfone 10 and price it lower than 5V then it will be great.

As fo... moreI captured static 1080p video of wood board on both zen8 cameras at iso 25 and 200. Ultrawide 12Mpix 1/2.55" sensor looses more image details and sharpness when switching iso from 25 to 200 than wide 64Mpix 1/1.73" sensor.
And that's the point. More smaller pixels even if they are weaker gives you more data to work with.
I am almost 100% sure that 100 and 200Mpix sensors which will have larger area than 1/1.73" sensor on zen8 will produce still better 1080p video.
