Anonymous, 18 Jun 2023typical r/hailcorporate buzzwords"Bad things that corporations are doing is actually the result of one-world communist goverment guizz!!"
Source : Trust me bro
Fun fact, the WEF is also controlled by corporations, no amount of sneaking in anti-corporate thought (which is rightly popular) in anti-communist language is gonna work on people who actually have brains

IpsDisplay, 18 Jun 2023You know this is a lieIt is not.
If it was not fast enough, iPhones would not be the best selling phones worldwide. Yet they are.
Guess what? Real customers put this useless feature to a very last place.

Port-free phones are the future, yes. Not because of higher quality or convenience or user experience. But because it's cheaper to manufacture and they will market it as "premium".
Then they can sell another bunch of useless accessories, and claim some BS reason like "waterproofing". Users will forget that waterproof phones with charging ports existed, exactly the same way people are already forgetting that phones with headphones jacks and replaceable batteries were also waterproof.
People will eat up the lying, corporate marketing excuse and happily hand over $50 to slow charge when a $5 cable used to be able to fast charge, pay $200 for headphones when $50 headphones give better quality audio, and pay $300 for an extra 128GB of storage when a $15 microSD card does the job.

Anonymous, 18 Jun 2023You do realise that since 3,5mm, microsd and charger brick ... moreWell, its still good, have you seen the garden tools - without battery, without charger - we may as well see this soon.
At least there is a possiblity of that in EU by 2027.
Lost usbc and cable may fill the void of trying to sell a less for more.
Well, we were dreaming of modular phones, they are coming. lol
It is phone, earphones with a DAC, charger, case, powerbank...

I'm still cling... moreNever had any issues swapping physical sim, it’s super easy and convenient.
But I do use esim myself because carriers here ask a fee for a physical sim IF your phone has a esim, anyhow swapping is a pain because you need to go physically to a store, show your ID and then you can swap once.
Have to do this every time you swap phones.

I will never buy a portless phone.
I'm still clinging on to the 3.5mm jack, but one day I might be ready to lose it because I can still use a dongle or Bluetooth headphones.
I'm still clinging on to the MicroSD slot because it provides a way to expand your storage. Maybe one day when phone manufacturers start providing tons of storage without a ridiculous markup I'll be ready to lose it.
This may be a hot take, but I embrace eSim and want it to take over, as long as it is easy to switch carriers. It's a pain to switch physical sim cards and the last time I tried that, I broke the mechanism. Good riddance.
But there's no way I'll ever get rid of the USB port. It can do so much, especially with OTG. It not only provides a quick easy way to charge the phone, but you can also get audio out of it, attach a controller to it, connect to an external computer, or even connect it to a flash drive to expand your storage. It's just too good to remove, and it's also an easy area to improve. Why do we still see USB 2.0 speeds without OTG on flagship phones?

Some models likely port-less in the future but not for the vast majority. Thing is, wired charging is smaller/compact, cheaper, and faster than wireless. A flagship phone might have a port covered most of the time and can be opened during urgent/travel use.
Another reason is high res and high refresh micro OLED glasses in a few years where it hooks up to a smartphone for power, compute, and internet.

Actualphone, 18 Jun 2023Imagine not being able to use your phone when it's fla... moreFyi there are standing wireless chargers, my old p40 pro could be used while on it perfectly fine, either in portrait or landscape mode and with the air gestures because of the ToF IR sensor so i regularly used it while it was on charge.
Im also sure xiaomi did develop tech which lets you wirelessly charge devices about 30 foot away so being able to charge a mobile device wirelessly will soon be a thing (xioami wont be the only ones developing tech like this). Also data is transferred through the air now, has been a thing for over 100 years (recieving morse code over radiowaves in 1895, thats data transfering through the air).
Fyi huawei have DP out and last time i used the desktop experience on my tv it worked flawlessly, unfortunately we dont have the likes of them and LG progressing phone tech and have to rely on apple, pixels (funny they say its manufactured by google in the ads, everything is basically samsung in it 😂) and samsung delaying advancements with their hardcore fan base backing the rubbish they do.
I do agree we are not ready to be "completely wireless" but we arent far away, im pretty sure you can wirelessly screenshare your phones screen at 120hz if the tv has a 120hz screen which is a lot of data transferring wirelessly. By 2030 we'll probably be seeing all physical ports and buttons starting to dissapear completely.
